About the Accounting Team
The OB Accounting Team handles an array of tasks including inventory accounting for our retail stores and warehouses, accounts receivable, and sales tender reconciliation. Our team works closely with GL Accounting and Brand/Supply Chain Finance Teams as well as many other groups accross the WSI organization. Our responsibility is to record and reconcile WSI financial transactions while ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations.
Overview of the Senior Accountant role
This individual will be responsible for accounting related to our AR portfolio for Williams Sonoma as part of the accounting organization in Olive Branch, MS. Major responsibilities will include reconciliation of general ledger accounts, sub-ledgers, interfaces, and associated due diligence, research and analysis to determine required journal entries or other necessary actions. Support of various audits, SOX requirements and statutory reporting will be a major part of this role. The Sr. Staff Accountant will report to and work closely with the Senior Manager of Accounts Receivable and is also expected to become an integral business partner with business partners across the company. Strong communication skills, a collaborative style and robust analytical and decision making capabilities will be required in order to be successful.
Responsibilities
Review customer records and trends in order to recognize potential challenges, identify delinquencies, and consult with customers to resolve issues Analysis and research of accounting data across various legal entities and systems Preparation of Accounts Receivable account reconciliations, journal entries, support documentation, etc. for activity occurring across brands and entities of Williams Sonoma Recognize process improvement opportunities and make recommendations to improve quality, timeliness and accuracy of international transactions and business flows and invoicing and collection procedures Participate in business and system projects that impact accounts receivable Ability to plan and lead projects through to completion in conjunction with other leaders throughout the accounting organization
Criteria
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA a plus 3-5 years accounting experience in a complex, global environment Strong systems and analytical skills with high attention to detail Superior knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel, Access or similar software solutions Knowledge of accounting principles and practices, international requirements, and analysis & reporting of financial data Ability to analyze data and produce reports or presentations Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong teamwork and business partnering capabilities Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Experience and desire to solve challenges via analysis, including suggesting and implementing process improvements to resolve issues or streamline processes
