Captive Senior Accountant

The ideal candidate will assist with the work cross-functionally with management in Insurance Accounting, Program Management, Underwriting and Client Services to review monthly results, analyze loss reserves, and implement program changes. This position will help partner with our Global teams and provide them with accounting guidance and reporting in support of their programs related to insurance and extended service contracts. The candidate will be involved in month end close processes to prepare monthly client reporting, journal entries and general ledger reconciliations. This position will assist in providing captive information for both external and internal audits. This position will also identify process improvements and build mechanisms to ensure accuracy.

JOB DUTIES:

Prepare Monthly Client Reporting and Analytical Schedules including underwriter reportingPrepare and interpret reinsurance financial results for multiple domestic and international clientsReview claims forecast and loss development patterns to ensure adequate reserves are maintainedMaintain Operational Results Templates and prepare journal entries for Domestic and International CaptivesPrepare and Review General Ledger reconciliationsEnhance the documentation of key internal controls and procedures.Prepare monthly GAAP and Statutory reporting for both Domestic and International CaptivesIdentify best practices and create ideas for process improvements.Assist external and internal auditors with providing schedules required for various audits of financials and reportingSupport Program Management/Client Services with Ad-hoc projects and inquiriesEnhance process efficiency and accuracy through automationParticipate in ad hoc projects concerning finance activitiesPerforms ad hoc activities and tasks as required

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related fieldProfessional Qualification such as CPA, CA is a plus (an equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience may be considered)CPA designation or actively pursuing certification is a plus.Proven track record of academic and professional excellence.

•     A strong understanding of accrual accounting and its impacts on monthly financial results

4-5 years’ experience in a similar roleGeneral accounting skills and knowledge of GAAPProven ability to work well with external and internal customersExperience with statistics and manipulating large data sets
