Position Summary
The Senior Accountant will lead key accounting activities and ensure the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records. This role involves overseeing journal entries, supervising balance sheet reconciliations, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and US GAAP. Key tasks include preparing higher-risk journal entries, managing intercompany transactions and balances, and providing detailed financial analysis. The Senior Accountant will collaborate closely with colleagues and the Global Business Services (GBS) team to ensure offshore activities align with company policies. This position requires strong analytical skills, leadership ability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Accountabilities
• Oversee and review the preparation and posting of journal entries in compliance with company policies and US GAAP.
• Lead monthly account reconciliations, resolving discrepancies promptly, and supervise reconciliations prepared by staff accountants.
• Collaborate with the Global Business Services (GBS) team to monitor and enhance the accuracy and timeliness of offshore accounting activities.
• Provide leadership in managing intercompany transactions, ensuring balances align with GAAP and company policies.
• Review and approve documentation for internal and external audits, ensuring timely and accurate responses to auditor inquiries.
• Ensure robust compliance with internal controls, identifying gaps and implementing improvements as needed.
• Analyze financial statements to provide insights into account fluctuations and support management decision-making.
• Lead, mentor, and train staff accountants to ensure adherence to best practices.
• Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of accounting operations.
Required Education, Skills and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college.
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, with supervisory responsibilities preferred.
• CPA certification preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills, with demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret complex financial data.
• Comprehensive understanding of US GAAP and its practical application.
Desirable Education, Skills and Experience
• Proven experience in a US publicly listed company is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with advanced accounting software, including SAP S4 Hana, Blackline, and Hyperion, is a strong plus.
• Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively mentor and collaborate with team members.
• Organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
• Demonstrated ability to identify and implement process improvements.
• Experience with intercompany accounting, multi-currency transactions, and financial analysis.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities to provide actionable insights.
• Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all financial reporting activities.
Working Relationships
• Will work with cross-functional team members in Operations, Supply Chain, Finance, IT, Commercial, Tax, Treasury, and Internal Audit.
• Work with internal external Audit and members of our 3rd party outsource team.
Work Environment
• Ability to work outside of standard business hours as needed.
• Some travel possible.
The salary range for this position is $72,000 - $108,000. The actual base salary offered to a candidate may vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance.
