The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Accountant – Financial Operations & Governance to join our dynamic team. This role primarily involves validating financial operations that support the books and records (systems and business processes), in addition to project-based work. The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting background, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

Maintain Data Integrity Controls: Implement controls to ensure data integrity within applications. Conduct thorough data integrity gap analyses and collaborate with business owners and IT teams to address and resolve any identified gaps.Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial operations reports for various projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and organizational standards.Project Support: Collaborate with multiple teams to provide financial insights and support for ongoing projects. This includes budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.Internal Controls: Maintain, implement, and adhere to internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial data and compliance with regulatory requirements.Communication: Respond to inquiries from other departments or vendors, resolving a variety of financial issues and providing clear and concise information.Ad Hoc Reporting: Participate in special projects and ad hoc reporting requests as needed, providing valuable financial insights to support decision-making.Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the development and implementation of best practices in accounting and financial reporting.

Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.Accounting: Knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and tools; ability to maintain and prepare financial statements and reports using accounting methods and processes.Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.Financial Reporting: Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports.

Consideration for Top Candidates:

Proven experience in managing and executing project-based work, demonstrating a strong background in project management.Extensive experience with accounting software, including Oracle and SAP, ensuring proficiency in financial systems.Solid technical accounting background, providing a strong foundation for accurate and compliant financial reporting.Proficient in using Power BI to build dashboards and leverage data for strategic business decisions, enhancing business strategy through data-driven insights.

Additional Information:

This role is a hybrid position and would require any successful candidate to commit to a 3 day per week in office requirement.

Summary Pay Range:

$116,532.00 - $216,384.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
