Senior Accountant

Position Overview:We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant with a strong background in law firm accounting to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have 4-5 years of overall accounting experience, with at least 2 years specifically within a law firm setting. This role requires excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle complex financial data. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing financial processes, ensuring compliance with accounting principles, and supporting the firm's financial goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP.Accounts Payable/Receivable: Oversee the accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.General Ledger: Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end closing processes.Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts, providing insights and recommendations for financial planning.Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant accounting standards, laws, and regulations, including trust accounting rules specific to law firms.Audit Preparation: Coordinate and prepare for internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and support.Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis and prepare reports to support strategic decision-making by senior management.Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including legal teams and administrative staff, to support financial operations and business objectives.Special Projects: Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by the Finance Manager/Controller.
Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.CPA certification is preferred but not required.4-5 years of overall accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a law firm setting.Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar).Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Experience with trust accounting and law firm billing software is a plus.
