Senior Accountant

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Accountant performs general accounting tasks including but not limited to balance sheet reconciliation, ad-hoc analysis and participating on special projects as needed.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepares monthly journal entries for entry into the general ledger system on a monthly basis by collecting necessary data, analyzing and/or allocating costs and preparing audit trail support for the journal entries. Record fixed assets acquisitions and disposition in the Costpoint. Perform depreciation calculation for all fixed assets Prepare and maintain detailed schedule of accumulated depreciation and fixed assets Review and post fixed assets and inventory Perform and review reconciliation of fixed asset subsidiary ledger balance with general ledger. Coordinate fixed asset additions and disposals with various departments and investigate the potential obsolescence of fixed assets. Obtain off-site Inventory reports and ensure amounts are properly recorded in Costpoint Prepare monthly account analysis and research to ensure accuracy and understanding of account balances and activity Prepare monthly variance analyses for balance sheets accounts as part of month-end close process Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations Assist with interim and year-end audits Participate in special projects as required Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting Minimum of 3-5 years of accounting and financial operations experience Experience with Deltek, Costpoint and COGNOS Experience with Microsoft suite, proficiency in Excel is essential Must be organized, detail oriented, motivated and able to multitask in a fast paced and dynamic work environment Ability to recognize and solve business problems by applying appropriate use of logic to quickly isolate the trends or problems Strong communication skills, with ability to effectively interact and communicate, both oral and written, with individuals across the organization

Work is typically based in a busy office environment and subject to frequent interruptions. Business work hours are Monday-Friday standard core hours, however some extended or weekend hours may be required.
