Position Summary:
As a Senior Accountant, you will take ownership of finance operations in the Philippines. Being hands-on and task orientated, this role is responsible for supporting a range of financial and administration functions, including the general ledger and supporting schedules and reconciliations. Working closely with members of the international finance team to ensure the Philippines trial balance is accurate and complete. You will report into the Senior Finance Manager ANZ & SEA, located in New Zealand.
The nature of this role will require an understanding of the business and various commercial models. The successful candidate is an ambitious person and team player, has a solid technical accounting background, understands Philippine compliance requirements, experience with VAT and WHT in an international context, is experienced with control requirements of publicly traded companies, has an understanding of US GAAP and PFRS, brings strong interpersonal and communication skills and will enjoy working in the multicultural environment of a global tech leader. The role requires the candidate to work as part of the international finance team but also work closely with the local non-finance team in Philippines, so therefore needs to be a self-starter and is comfortable working independently.
Your Day-to-Day activities:
Executing statutory financial reporting closing and ensure compliance with group (US GAAP and PFRS) and statutory accounting policies. Prepare journal entries (accrual, deferrals, prepayments, reclassifications). Maintain accuracy and completeness of trial balances in our accounting system. Prepare balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly basis. Maintaining local statutory ledger. Perform/oversee monthly financial and accounting analysis. Annual statutory financial statements, including liaising with and being main contact for Auditors. Understand and be involved in the review and submission of payroll and associated compliance, including being the internal champion and the primary point of contact. Be the first responder for finance queries and related matters. Responsible for preparing, reviewing and/or arranging for the timely submission of all BIR returns and other compliance related matters. Review transactions for accuracy. Collaborate with the business and accounts payable group to ensure proper VAT and WHT treatment on purchases. Pursue a data quality culture of being right at source and minimal corrections. Any other tasks reasonably assigned.What You Bring to The Team:
University or higher education degree in accounting, finance, or taxation. Certified Public Accountant. A minimum of 5 years-experience in a similar role related to tax, accounting, reporting or audit. Strong background in Philippines accounting and taxation. A self-starter who is comfortable working independently. A background in the software industry, a finance shared service center and/ or aUS GAAP International company is an advantage. Thorough understanding of Philippine accounting and reporting requirements (PFRS and US GAAP). Thorough understanding of financial control requirements. SOX 404 requirements in the US is an advantage. Experience in cooperation with teams in a multicultural environment. Can-do, role-up-your-sleeves attitude. Excellent documentation and communication skills; fluent in English, written and verbal. Ability to work with tight deadlines.
