Job Description:

At Regions, the Senior Accountant uses professional accounting concepts and internal company policies to solve moderately complex accounting or operational issues, prepares and analyzes financial results for reports, and partners with internal and external clients to meet reporting needs.

Primary Responsibilities

Manages accounting and reporting requirements for select business groups including planning and analysisPrepares special accounting reports for management or regulatory authoritiesMonitors compliance with accounting policies and generally accepted accounting principalsInteracts with various levels of internal and external clients to obtain or provide information and/or resolve issues for assigned tasks, accounts, and legal entitiesProvides general ledger research, inputs to strategic planning, and leads special projectsPerforms accounting estimates and ensures key reports and processes are operating efficiently and effectivelyAvoids legal challenges by complying with legal requirementsEnsures the integrity of accounting informationMay coordinate preparation and distribution of financial statementsMay organize completion of quarterly and Annual regulatory filingsMay prepare balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reportsDevelops skills to become accounting subject matter expertMay lead large projects

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related fieldFive (5) years of accounting, corporate finance or directly related experience

Skills and Competencies

Ability to manage multiple and competing prioritiesAbility to work effectively in a team environment and across all organizational levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are importantAdvanced analytical and research skills with high attention to detail and accuracyAdvanced skills in Excel and Microsoft WordExcellent verbal and written communication skillsFamiliarity with accounting, Treasury, or capital market systemsKnowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), accounting systems, and practices

Additional Preferences:

Experience accounting for debt securitiesExperience accounting for derivative transactions in hedged relationshipsKnowledge of back-office procedures related to security settlements, wire transfersKnowledge of margin activity related to ISDA and MSFTA contractsExperience with data governance procedures, identifying critical data assets, developing data controlsProficiency using Bloomberg terminal and data license to create reportsExperience with TPG or other bond accounting software systemsProficiency using  Workiva’s W-Desk to create and run reports

Advanced Excel Experience preferred. Specifically experience with:

V lookupsPivot tablesConditional statementsVBA

This position may be filled at a higher level depending on the candidate’s qualifications and relevant experience.

Compensation Details

Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job.

The target information listed below is based on the Metropolitan Statistical Area Market Range for where the position is located and level of the position.
