Senior Accountant

Job Description

Responsible for a multitude of accounting activities, including but not limited to journal entries, reconciliations, the month end close process and audit preparation. Reconciles balance sheet accounts and resolves accounting discrepancies and irregularities by collecting and analyzing account information. Interacts with other departments to understand their transactions. Supports various audit activities (external, internal). Ensures that all deliverables comply with generally accepted accounting principles. Contributes to other department and organization special projects as assigned.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements


Responsibilities:

Leading  month-end and year-end close, including preparing monthly journal entries, supporting schedules, account reconciliations, and business unit financial statements;

Assist with internal and external audits by responding to requests;

Maintaining, updating and developing accounting policies and procedures;

Analyzing general ledger accounts and resolving discrepancies;

Liaison between FP&A team and Corporate Finance on variance related questions.

Qualifications

Bachelors Accounting required or

Bachelors Finance required and

Masters Accountancy preferred or

Masters Finance preferred

A minimum of 2+ years of experience in public accounting or related accounting and reporting experience is required; manufacturing experience is preferred but not required

2+ Years of experience with financial software applications (such as SAP, Oracle, Hyperion, OneStream, etc.) required

Equivalent combination of experience and education which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute on a year for year basis

Able to use Microsoft Office Applications

Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - External Agency/Certifier preferred


Soft Skills
Strong writing and verbal skills; ability to communicate well across functions; problem solving and research capabilities; critical thinking is a must. Top candidates have excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills.

10% of time traveling to domestic MiTek locations as needed.

This role is performed in an office environment where a computer, telephone and other office equipment are used as needed to perform the duties of the role.
