If this describes you, this is your opportunity to be part of the University of Dayton as a Senior Accountant in the Controller's office.
Reporting to the Assistant Controller, and supervising multiple employees, the Senior Accountant will perform complex accounting functions, including performing ad hoc analyses, analyzing large data sets, and reconciling complex accounts. This role will be required to analyze various situations and use professional judgment in reaching a solution, as well as effectively communicate the information in an easily understood manner. This position will also recommend, assist, test, or implement process streamlining, system improvements or work flow changes. In addition to standard financial accounting and reporting, the position will assist with cost accounting and related post-award technical and financial administration support for sponsored research activities.
Minimum Qualifications:• Bachelor's degree in accounting
• 5 years of applicable experience
• Ability to interpret and apply advanced accounting knowledge and understanding of
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to clearly and effectively
communicate complex accounting and compliance information to internal and
external audiences
• Intermediate proficiency in business applications, such as Google Suite and Microsoft
Excel
• Strong attention to detail
• Minimum 1-year supervision experience
• Proven ability to lead meetings and provide solutions within a team setting
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
• Advanced degree - MBA, or related advanced degree or CPA, or related certifications
• Experience in higher education fund accounting or other complex not-for-profit entity
• Knowledge of the Uniform Guidance for Federal Awards, particularly those relating to
cost principles and reporting requirements
• Post award grants experience, including financial reporting and cost accounting
• Experience with Ellucian Banner ERP or equivalent
• Experience with Cognos report writing or equivalent
• Experience working with socially and culturally diverse communities
• More than 1 year of supervision experience
