Job Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for applying accepted accounting principles and procedures to analyze financial information, prepare accurate and timely financial reports/statements and ensure appropriate accounting control procedures. They communicate accounting policy and make recommendations regarding the accounting treatment of financial transactions, as well as assist in the development of new systems, procedures and controls.

Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information; documents financial transactions by entering account information. Prepares and analyzes monthly financial statements, general ledger maintenance, and account reconciliation. Prepares budgets and financial forecasting and periodic financial analysis reports on the business. Prepares and analyzes monthly bank and credit card reconciliation statements. Prepares, maintains and analyzes balance sheet schedules. Read and interpret vendors and payer’s contracts to prepare matrices and apply in the accounting cycle. Summarizes current financial status by collecting information; preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports. Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents. Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures. Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information. Maintains financial security by following internal controls. Prepares payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements. Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations. Complies with governmental financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions. Keeps abreast of professional/regulatory trends and changes to assess applicability to JV objectives and identify potential for impacting/improving existing systems and services. Assists in preparing multiple external audits, tax returns, and other filings. Makes professional judgments concerning practical interpretations of GAAP and IFRS standards in unusual and/or straightforward cases and recommends actions when specific situations require difficult interpretation. Develops recommendations that fit situations given that there may be a variety of solutions and effectively presents alternative solutions and/or critical findings to management. Analyzes function/department operations for impact on the accounting or reporting systems. Other job assignments, projects and duties assigned as necessary to enhance the finance department.
