Description
Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Accountant to join their accounting team. This is a key position responsible for overseeing the financial processes and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. In this role, you will work closely with leadership to provide financial insights and process improvements to support the operational success of the company. Key Responsibilities
+ Manage general ledger activities, including preparing and posting journal entries, ensuring accuracy, and reconciling accounts.
+ Lead and oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, aligning with GAAP standards.
+ Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
+ Perform variance analysis to identify and communicate trends, risks, and opportunities to senior management.
+ Monitor job cost accounting for HVAC projects, ensuring proper allocation of materials, labor, and overhead.
+ Maintain AR/AP processes, reviewing accuracy of invoices and payments, and managing aging reports.
+ Handle fixed assets management, including depreciation schedules and reconciliations.
+ Support the payroll function, including payroll journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations.
+ Assist with tax compliance and reporting, including sales/use tax and property tax filings.
+ Coordinate with external auditors and facilitate successful auditing processes.
+ Collaborate with other departments to streamline accounting operations, improve procedures, and support project-based financial decision-making in the HVAC space.
Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA designation is preferred.
+ Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in an HVAC, construction, or service-oriented industry.
+ Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
+ Experience with job cost accounting and WIP (Work in Progress) reporting in project-oriented businesses is highly desirable.
+ Proficiency with accounting software—experience with QuickBooks, Sage100, or Viewpoint is a plus.
+ Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and extensive datasets).
+ Strong analytical problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
+ Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with various stakeholders.
+ Ability to manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
