**POSITION SUMMARY** The Accountant – Senior is responsible for Southland’s financial recordkeeping including recording financial transactions, managing accounts and account reconciliation, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. This position also provides a high level of customer service to both internal departments and external customers. **What you’ll do:** + Maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial transactions, including journal entries, accruals and adjustments + Perform account reconciliations, analyzing and resolving discrepancies to ensure data accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles + Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, ensuring proper classification and documentation + Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, preparing financial reports and supporting documentation + Develop, document, and improve internal controls, policies, and procedures to enhance financial accuracy and efficiency + Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules, responding to inquiries and ensuring compliance with regulations. **What you’ll need to be successful:** + Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain accounting concepts and mentor junior staff + Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with internal teams + High level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism in handling confidential financial information + Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines + Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research and resolve complex accounting issues **What you bring to the table:** + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required + 5+ years of progressive accounting experience required; public accounting experience preferred + Strong technical accounting knowledge, with a deep understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls + Advanced Excel skills; experience with Power BI and/or macro is a plus **YOU Matter**   **PEOPLE FIRST: BUILDING TALENT BY DESIGN**   At Southland we aspire to build a workforce that’s as diverse as the people who occupy the buildings we design, build and maintain.
