Primary Purpose: Perform general accounting functions that support the month end close; reconciling balance sheet and general ledger accounts. In addition, the position ensures accounting records and general ledgers are maintained accurately and in accordance with GAAP principles.
Essential Functions:
Full responsibilities for month end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, analyses and ensure compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures. Prepare and post journal entries for all companies including preparing, accumulating, and analyzing various supporting documentation. Reconcile various general ledger accounts each month and perform financial statement analysis to identify unusual variances in the accounts. Consolidation tasks. Maintain compliance with GAAP. Maintain accounting controls and processes. Assist with providing meaningful commentary around financial results. Assist with the year-end financial audit process with external auditors. Assist in the documentation of processes and procedures of assigned accounting areas. Contribute to the team effort by completing other related tasks as needed. Ad-hoc reporting for selected balance sheet accounts Perform special projects as required by Management. Foster good employee/management relations. Promote teamwork by fostering partnerships with key departments. Education: Bachelor’s in accounting or comparable business degree. CPA preferred. Experience: Three years combined public and/or private accounting experience. Three years consolidation experience. ERP systems experience. Other: Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Strong knowledge of corporate accounting functions. Strong knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Office software. Proficient Excel skills, Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs. Good written and verbal communication skills. Good organizational skills and problem-solving skills. Good time management skills with the ability to multitask while coordinating multiple high-level priorities. Ability to read, write, and comprehend complex written and verbal instructions. Ability to understand, perform, and retain various job-related training, operational, and safety procedures. Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and decision making related to non-routine duties. Overnight travel may be required.Strongly Preferred but not required.
