Backcountry is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of accounting principles, and financial reporting. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and analysis to support our business decisions. The Senior Accountant will ensure the integrity and accuracy of our financial statements through activity analysis and account reconciliations. They will also prepare and consolidate balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, as needed for all of Backcountry’s brands. This role is challenging – above and beyond the day-to-day responsibilities, you’ll have a big role within a fast-paced team. This position will report into the Assistant Controller.What you get to do every day: Prepare consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering as well as analyzing information from the general ledger systemPerform analytics to access and understand changesOversee Staff Accountant(s) and review Journal Entries, Balance Sheet Reconciliations, & Variance AnalysisOwn & Manage key areas of the Balance Sheet / P&L being responsible for any variances in addition to future implicationsMaintain and balance consolidation system by inputting and verifying dataAnalyze information and options; develop reportsPrepare general ledger entries, maintain records and files; reconcile accountsPrepare payments by accruing expenses; request disbursements; reconcile accountsSubstantiate financial transactions; audit documents and prepare account roll-forwardsMaintain financial security by following internal controlsImplement accounting procedures and internal controls by analyzing current practices; recommend improvementsAnswer accounting and financial questions through research and data analysisIdentify, research, and explain variances between actual and forecasted performanceProtect Backcountry’s value by keeping information confidentialKeep abreast with accounting trends and self-educate as needed What you bring to the role:Bachelor's degree in accounting, Master's degree preferred2-5 years accounting experienceExcellent written, verbal and analytical skillsAbility to meet tight deadlines, while maintaining accuracy of information and attention to detailIntermediate to advanced MS Office Suite skills, with an emphasis on ExcelAbility to multitask and balance prioritiesKnowledge and familiarity of Oracle Netsuite is preferredLocation: Hybrid, 2-days in office from Gearhead Operations in West Valley. 4-days in office during month-end close.Occasionally required to work from Park City during the in-office days.What’s in it for you?
