Nevada County is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant Auditor for its Auditor-Controller's Office. This is a lead supervisory position where individuals will exercise direct supervision over lower level Accountant-Auditor positions and Accounting Technician personnel. Individuals will perform and/or coordinate the most complex accounting and financial analyses related to the administration of property taxes. This position will be responsible for preparing most complex accounting transactions and reports related to property tax assessments and apportionment of property taxes to various agencies and special districts. Other skills and abilities include:
+ Maintain accurate and complete specialized accounting records
+ Provide oversight and maintenance of records and reports related to property tax assessments
+ Design internal controls for property tax related processes
+ Prepare correspondence, interpret and explain policies to the County taxpayers
+ Oversee audits of property tax processes by various tax authorities and state agencies
+ Research and resolve errors related to tax rates, prepare analyses for annexations
+ Analyze changes to Revenue & Taxation Code, implement new regulations
+ Train new employees; evaluate the performance of individuals and programs
A Senior Accountant Auditor is an integral part of Auditor-Controller's Office whose mission is to maintain financial records and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting! This position is crafted for individuals who have a Bachelor's degree with major coursework in accounting, auditing or related field and three years of progressively responsible accounting or auditing experience. If you have knowledge of principles of supervision and training, that's a plus!

Education and Experience Required
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university with major coursework in accounting, auditing or related field
AND
Three years of progressively responsible, professional or journey level accounting or auditing experience, preferably in governmental accounting.

Retirement
