Job Title: Senior Accountant – Indirect Tax

Location: Atlanta, GA (hybrid – 4 days/week onsite)

Position Summary

As part of the North America Controllership team, the Indirect Tax Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and coordinating all aspects of sales tax audits in the US and Canada for NCR Atleos from notification through completion. The Senir Accountant needs to have a thorough knowledge of the sales tax laws to be able to interact with the auditor on an independent basis, consulting with the manager on specific issues.

Duties will include generation of transactional reports from various enterprise systems, reconciliation of sales tax returns and trial balances, and the pulling of source documentation, such as customer invoices, vendor invoices, and exemption certificates. The Indirect Tax Senior Accountant is responsible for initial review and analysis of both sales and purchases transactions under audit review; and developing NCR Atleos tax positions in a clear and concise manner, with full back up documentation. In addition, when necessary, this person will be responsible for certain protest and appeal, and the coordination with hired outside consultant assisting NCR Atleos in a contested audit assessment. The Senior Accountant may also assist the team with ad-hoc projects and assignments related to North America indirect tax compliance.

Key Areas of Responsibility:

Maintain knowledge of sales and excise tax law

Respond to audit questionnaires and schedule auditor's on-site visits

Plan, organize and execute the audit from notification through completion

Use analytical skills understanding the tax impact of the auditor inquiries

Plan a strategy exploring every opportunity to minimize the audit assessment

Regularly communicate with the sales tax manager regarding projects and tasks

Develop good working relationships with personnel within the Finance, Purchasing, Shared Services and other operations teams

Identify and assist with the implementation of process enhancements to correct issues stemming from audits or other diligences

Provide subject matter expertise as part of corporate and tax initiatives impacting sales, use and excise taxes

Support sales tax registration analysis including voluntary disclosure agreements as applicable

Support the research and communication of sales tax impacts of large capital projects

Perform administrative tasks in a timely manner

Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance

4+ years of experience as part of a dynamic multi-state sales tax team

Exceptional oral/written communication skills with ability to interact professionally with diverse groups

Ability to manage and make progress on multiple projects simultaneously

Ability to gather facts, research a tax position, and accurately communicate tax advice

Detail oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Proficiency in tax research tools and Microsoft Office Suite

Good working knowledge of multi-state sales tax rules and regulations; ability to apply these rules to transactions in the technology industry

Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment

Excellent work ethic - high standard of performance and production

Preferred Qualifications:

CPA or CMI; public accounting experience a plus

Working knowledge of OneSource (Thompson Reuters) or similar sales tax decision making software, along with diverse enterprise system knowledge or adaptability
