What Will You Be Doing?

An experienced accountant performing assigned month end accounting functions at an advanced level, year-end audits and special projects.  This position will be fully responsible for the management of the aircraft maintenance monthly journal entries and account reconciliations, including suggesting improvements to the existing process and maintaining proper SOX documentation. Included in this position’s maintenance responsibilities is oversight of the accounting for our engine maintenance agreements, which includes complex estimation and a high attention to detail. This person will directly partner with the operations contacts to ensure maintenance events are accurately being reflected in the financial statements and that the business’s needs are being met.    

 

Essential Functions

·       40% Manage Process Improvement

o   Partner with business contacts in maintenance and materials to identify areas for improvement and determine revised processes as well as provide reporting to assist with decision making;

o   Oversee engine maintenance models and journal entries;

o   Review new maintenance agreements and implement accounting processes, including modeling, in accordance with the agreement.

·       30% Month/Quarter Close

o   Prepare and review journal entries;

o   Prepare and review account reconciliations;

o   Prepare monthly and quarterly variance explanations;

o   Present to VPs at monthly P&L and cost center reviews;

o   Prepare footnote disclosure tie out packages for Financial Reporting and external auditors.

·       15% Audit

o   Prepare PBCs;

o   Prepare technical accounting memos supporting quarterly maintenance events and associated accounting;

o   Respond to ad hoc auditor requests.

·       15% Other Tasks as Assigned

o   Special projects

 

Qualifications

·       3 to 6 years of previous accounting experience required

·       BS Degree in Accounting required

·       Certified Public Accountant preferred

·       “Big 4” experience preferred

·       Experience with critical accounting estimates required

·       Month-end close experience, including journal entries and reconciliations, required

·       Financial reporting preferred

Salary: $70,000 - $90,000 Annually
