Senior Accountant - Technical Accounting

Maxar Intelligence is currently seeking a Senior Accountant to join our Technical Accounting team in Westminster, CO. This is a hybrid position with the expectation of 3 days per week onsite. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing Technical accounting and Revenue accounting. They will be a member of the Maxar Intelligence team and report to the Sr. Manager - Technical Accounting.

Responsibilities

Research, evaluate and document technical accounting implications of complex or non-standard transactions encountered at corporate and throughout our business units Review new contracts and assess the accounting implications based on existing accounting standards, interpretations or regulations (e.g. revenue recognition, leases)Communicate with various internal groups to gather relevant information for decision making related to proper accounting treatment for significant transactionsBuild strong cross-functional relationships to ensure accounting issues are identified timelyManage the development, maintenance and compliance of accounting policiesResearch and coordinate with business units the implication of all new accounting standards, including assessing the impacts to the organization and ensuring an accurate transition during implementationCoordinate audit review of technical accounting mattersAssist in the preparation of annual financial statements, as neededParticipate in month-end and year-end close processes, as neededPerform special projects or duties as required within the finance department

Basic Qualifications

U.S. Citizen or permanent resident requiredBachelor’s degree in accountingMinimum 4 years of relevant accounting experience which includes complex technical accounting and/or revenue recognitionMinimum of 3 years of public accounting experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in accountingCPAThorough knowledge of accounting principles under U.S. GAAP and the ability to research technical issues (experience with revenue recognition and lease accounting is a plus)Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely mannerProactive with an aptitude for process improvementHigh degree of accuracy and efficiency with strong attention to detailAbility to work independently, be a self-starter and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environmentAbility to work well in a team and create cross-functional relationshipsAnalytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skillsAbility to manage multiple projects/prioritiesProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)Advanced Excel skillsExperience with OneStream/SAP

Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.

● The base pay for this position within Colorado is: $74,000.00 - $122,000.00 annually.

For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
