The primary role of the Senior Actuarial Leader is to foster the growth of our Employee Health & Benefits Actuarial Services team, oversee financial consulting services for clients and client teams. This position would further develop both our modelling capabilities and Actuarial knowledge center.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead, manage and develop Actuarial Services teamPartner with client teams to address complex actuarial needs of our clients including; trend and reserve setting, discount positions of various medical, networks and other financial complications.Act as senior financial strategic advisor for a portfolio of large, complex clients; including but not limited to cost projections, contribution modelling, evaluating cost saving alternatives, vendor evaluations.Present to and collaborates with our client partners to help achieve Financial and Human Resource strategies for their benefits program.Drive actuarial innovation and partner with other Actuarial hubs to further the collective capabilities of Marsh McLennan Agency.Lead the IBNR setting and evaluation process for our self-funded book; Adapt our IBNR tool to keep pace with the dynamic marketplaceOversee the use our proprietary discount analysis; partner with actuarial hubs to ensure our tool is reflective of the marketplace.Collaborate with our client Financial Managers to evaluate and evolve our cost projection processesOversee the risk assessment process associated with serving the Stop Loss Center of Excellence.Evolve our actuarial thought leadership to better serve our clients and internal colleagues.Review the data analyses that are conducted by junior staff members to ensure actuarial soundness, correct use of models or products, and to assist in the development of junior staff members.Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent work experienceAssociate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (ASA or FSA)Member of American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA)Minimum 10 years of Actuarial experience in Health Insurance / Benefits Consulting IndustryExperience in the following areas: Self-Funded employee benefits, Medical, Rx, Stop Loss, IBNR, Discount AnalysisWorking in a matrixed environment with competing with various prioritiesKnowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must have ability to multi-task and work in a team environmentMust have computer skills proficiency and experience with MS Office suite (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Working knowledge of pivot tables is preferred.Outstanding analytical, math and problem-solving skills, sound judgment, strong decision-making ability, confidence to make difficult decisions and excellent communication skillsMust have exception technical computer skills; including but not limited Excel, Access, VBA, Power BI, SQL and working knowledge of Actuarial software.Must be organized, detail oriented and able to translate big picture ideas into client objectivesMust have strong negotiation and persuasion skillsWho you are is who we are.
