Senior AI/ML Research Scientist

The Leidos Innovations Center (LInC) is seeking a versatile Senior Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) Scientist to contribute to a variety of mission-critical programs. This role involves researching, developing, and implementing advanced AI/ML methodologies, algorithms, and software systems to address diverse operational needs. The ideal candidate will leverage expertise in machine learning, signal processing, mathematics, and software development to deliver innovative solutions that advance mission success.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and implement machine learning algorithms for mission-driven applications.

• Conduct research in AI/ML methodologies, including supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning.

• Apply signal processing techniques and mathematical modeling to optimize solutions.

• Build scalable software that integrates AI/ML algorithms into systems.

• Analyze large, complex datasets to extract physics-based signatures.

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to solve complex technical challenges.

• Contribute to technical proposal development and program innovation.

• Engage with customers and transition partners to develop business opportunities in AI/ML.

• Provide expertise to a variety of programs and proposals.

• Mentoring in AI/ML techniques.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field with an emphasis in AI/ML with 8+ years of relevant experience OR Master’s degree and 6+ years of related experience OR Ph.D. in technical domain above. (Master's degree or Ph.D preferred)

• Proficiency in Python and machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).

• Familiarity with Matlab, C++, and other computing languages.

• Experience in working in Linux and Windows operating systems.

• Strong foundation in mathematics, algorithms, and signal processing.

• Experience with software development and deploying AI/ML applications in real-world systems.

• Ability to adapt AI/ML techniques to diverse mission needs.

• Strong technical writing skills, including experience contributing to proposals and reports.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen and be eligible for a Top-Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in computer science or related field with an emphasis in AI/ML are highly preferred.

• Expertise in applying AI/ML techniques to areas such as time-series analysis, computer vision, or predictive modeling.

• Familiarity with transformer models, large-scale AI systems, and generative AI.

• Demonstrated ability to lead interdisciplinary teams and mentor junior researchers

Pay Range:Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00
