Senior Analyst, Accounting Research

Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Analyst to join the Accounting Research team at our Atlanta Headquarters. This role will be responsible for researching and analyzing complex accounting issues across Genuine Parts Company and its global subsidiaries to add value in decision making and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP. In addition, this position will play a key role in documenting the company's conclusions on a variety of high-visibility finance and accounting topics. In this role, you will have the opportunity to interact with individuals across all business units and levels of the organization to provide technical accounting guidance and recommendations to enhance the Company’s financial processes and reporting. This is a hybrid role with a minimum of three days per week in-office and reports to the Manager, Accounting Research.

Responsibilities include:

Research and analyze the impact of new accounting pronouncements, including new  accounting guidance and SEC reporting requirements.Prepare technical papers and presentations to communicate the Company's position on complex accounting issues such as new business initiatives and uncommon transactions.Manage a slate of annual technical memos used to document the Company’s conclusions on external reporting assertions and management assessments, including performing in-depth analyses, drafting memos, compiling supporting documentation, and managing the internal and external review process.Provide technical accounting guidance and support to various departments within the organization.Participate in technical accounting due diligence and purchase accounting for large M&A transactions.Participate in the quarterly and annual audit process, including providing timely audit support.Assist with the preparation of financial statements and related disclosures, including drafting disclosures for quarterly and annual SEC filings and assisting with the implementation of any new reporting guidance.Drive collaboration with cross-functional teams including FP&A, Consolidation, Internal Reporting, SEC Reporting, Treasury, Tax, Financial Shared Services, and counterparts at our domestic and international subsidiaries.Assist with establishing and maintaining the Company's accounting policies and procedures.Stay abreast of emerging accounting issues and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA certification preferred.2+ years of progressive experience in accounting; public accounting or related experience a plus.Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex accounting concepts to a variety of audiences.Ability to manage multiple tasks at once and prioritize work.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word; exposure to GenAI models is a plus.
