This role is a hybrid work arrangement. Work schedule to be discussed with the hiring Manager according to the guidelines defined by the department.

Your role

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Capital Process Management & Asset Accounting.


You will be responsible for the capitalization and accounting of assets acquired or constructed through capital projects and ordinary capital requests.  Maintain fixed assets and work in progress balances and prepare all continuity exhibits and schedules in support of financial reporting.  You will also be required to conduct financial analysis and maintain project budgets and forecasts on capital projects, as well as to prepare various reports to support budgeting and forecasting and other analysis.


This position requires proactive problem solving and a “can do” attitude.  The incumbent must have the ability to handle multiple priorities, to work under pressure to meet scheduled and unexpected deadlines, to  analyze complex financial scenarios, to work both independently and as a part of a team, to show initiative, leadership and to exercise judgment.


This position requires the ability to assess both financial and operational impacts and to provide information and/or guidance to those responsible for final results. Accuracy and attention to detail is essential.


This is a contract position for 9 month.


Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for the capitalization and accounting of assets acquired or constructed through capital projects and ordinary capital requests.  Maintain fixed assets and work in progress balances and prepare all continuity exhibits and schedules in support of financial reporting.Maintain and reconcile capital budgets, forecasts and integrity of related financial data.  Assist in the preparation of quarterly capital exhibits, the annual capital plan, Treasury Board and Board submissions by preparing data and conducting financial analysis, reconciliations and consolidation where required.Liaise with Corporate and Network Finance to proactively discover and resolve issues affecting or arising from capital.  This may involve assisting other finance groups in the analysis and reconciliations of purchases, sales taxes, government statistics, Access to Information requests, insurance etc.Perform data analysis and facilitate all asset reviews required by IFRS with clients.   Assist clients to comply with asset policy by providing relevant data and proactive follow-up. Perform financial analysis for RFPs and projects where required.In accordance with his/her delegation of authority regarding financial and human resources, exercise authorization of asset write-offs, journal entries and financial management of capital assets.  Provide advice and guidance pertaining to capital asset accounting and financial management policies, methods and guidelines.Provide timely reports and rigorous financial analysis to support business case approvals and forecast management, in keeping with the activities of the Capital Process department and clients.Act as expert users in the financial and reporting systems we use.Document and explain the processes and procedures under their areas of responsibilities.Conduct research on accounting and financial topics and tools where required to ensure the successful completion of tasks and projects assigned. Ensure the implementation of all management tools enabling upper management to plan and manage their resources effectively.  Ensure the proper links and completeness of data among the various systems needed for capital resource and asset management.Work with other business units and financial groups towards process and system improvements, fostering integration and collaboration with a future focused outlook to help identify pending issues and identify opportunities for improvements.

We are looking for a candidate with the following: 

Accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA) or equivalent combination of education and experience.  A university degree in accounting, business or finance is preferred.Minimum 5 years experience in a similar financial role. Strong financial analysis skills.  Excellent knowledge of accounting principles and their application, combined with an ability to perform rigorous, in-depth analyses.Advanced level of Excel and Google Sheet.Excellent working knowledge of computer software ( Database, Word Processor, Business Warehouse, SAP).Knowledge of Government Financing is an asset.Bilingualism (English/French) is required.Knowledge of TV and Radio production, and related Engineering demands is an asset.
