Job Description Summary

#TeamAAM is searching for a Custms & Trade Compliance Senior Analyst to contribute to our Supply Chain Management team. This role will be based out of our Detroit Business Office in Detroit, MI.

The Global Trade Compliance Senior Analyst is responsible for creating, maintaining, monitoring, and facilitating Customs compliance functions, special import trade programs, and overall import feasibility aspects of the import environment. This self-motivated and detail-oriented individual will interact with the different departments within AAM, and AAM service suppliers, to ensure that AAM is paying the appropriate amount of duties and on a timely basis to CBP. This position may also be required to interact with various U.S. Governmental agencies on behalf of AAM and support export operations as needed.

Job Description

Function strategically with proposals, purchasing, sales, plants and other departments to support US and Canadian import operationsCollaborate with customs brokers daily to facilitate timely/accurate filings in compliance with government regulationRespond to US and Canadian customs inquiries (CF28/29, PGA inquiries)Post entry functions (including recordkeeping, audit, duty recovery, and corrective actions)Maintain ACH processing for duty and tax paymentsLiaison for 3rd party service provider responsible for tariff classifications, FTA, COO and related activitiesIdentify and track cost downs, process improvements and KPIs with customs brokers and 3rd party providerSupport submission of internal audit activitiesDuty impact strategies/planning studiesDevelopment and facilitation of internal AAM training of departmentsCreate/maintain trade compliance proceduresAnalyze KPI’s, trade related reporting and identify process improvementsLead business review meetings customs brokers, service providers and identify cost/process improvementsAll other duties, as assigned

Required Skills and Education

Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalentStrong operational experience with import and export shipments (3-5 years minimum)Technical knowledge of U.S. CBP regulation and Trade Program requirementsHTS classification experience (automotive preferred)Post entry correction processingERP (i.e., Oracle, Plex preferred)Basic understanding of Finance and Accounts PayableProficient in Microsoft OfficeFlexible, able to meet tight deadlines, and team-oriented work ethicExcellent attention to detail and organizational skillsStrong investigation and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Experience:

Bi-lingual (Spanish, English strongly preferred)Customs Certifications or Licenses are a bonus, but not requiredSome understanding of Customs Regulations in Canada and MexicoAbility to travel (domestic and international), as necessary
