Whirlpool is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Senior Analyst. This is an onsite role for our Clyde, Ohio location.
Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) is core to Whirlpool’s Mission and foundational values. This will enable the enterprise to leverage best practices, key learnings, and expertise both regionally and globally, enabling us to 'Protect What Matters', including our people, our customers and our #1 position in the market. This position will support the environmental safety and health compliance efforts of Whirlpool operations by providing technical guidance on multiple regulatory programs including air, water, and waste management. As a member of the environmental team, the environmental Professional is responsible for driving WCM initiatives while interfacing with operations personnel to ensure an environmentally sound handling of chemicals which includes obtaining permits for operating, internal reviews of best practices, training of facility personnel on environmentally-related subjects, emergency response, agency interaction, environmental auditing, and other related duties. This position will report to the Sr Manager EHS and have the following duties.
The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) team designs, develops, implements and oversees the organization's environmental health and safety programs and procedures to safeguard employees and surrounding communities and to ensure that all facilities are in compliance with regulations. The Clyde, OH manufacturing site is one of nine Whirlpool Corporation manufacturing locations in the United States, and one of six located in the Midwest area. This location is Whirlpool Corporation's washer facility, and home to approximately 2,500 dedicated and collaborative employees across this ~1.7 million square foot facility.
Your responsibilities will includeLead Environment and Energy World Class Manufacturing (WCM) pillar core and floor teamsWork collaboratively with all levels of the organization; coach, train, and mentor operation leaders regarding site safety program requirements, expectations, and WCM methodology.Work closely with operating personnel to provide routine environmental support services.Responsible for understanding environmental regulations and corporate programs, and developing internal compliance procedures with the support of operations.Responsible for preparation of air emission, water discharge, and stormwater discharge permit applications; negotiating permits; monitoring compliance and preparing routine reports as well as emergency notifications.Provide technical support and project supervision for waste (hazardous and non-hazardous) disposal projects.Responsible for performing environmental audits. Must work closely with management and operating personnel to resolve audit issues and improve operations.Preparing numerous environmental plans/procedures: (i.e. Stormwater Protection Plans, Groundwater Protection Plans, Start-Up, Shutdown and Malfunction Plans, Malfunction Abatement Plans, Consent Decree, Title V, etc.Providing training to operations personnel on environmental, safety and health issues and procedures.Providing training to outside contractors on environmental, safety and health issues and procedures related to the Division.Providing environmental support during emergency response situations. Will be on call to provide emergency reporting/support services.Coordinating with Environmental Technical Services any public and regulatory activities related to ongoing or future groundwater and soil remediation projects.Will interact with regulatory personnel, industry reps, and to represent Whirlpool position on issues.Responsible for zero landfill initiatives Division lead on underground utilities (ie. Storm, sanitary, and industrial sewers)Continuously assess safety risks within the Areas, develop and execute mitigation plans to address risks.Minimum requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Environment, Health and Safety, Occupational Health, Engineering or Science2+ years of combined experience in Environment, Health and Safety within an industrial manufacturing setting2+ years of experience working with water treatment processes, water chemistry, and environmental regulationsPreferred skills and experiences
Proven experience in a large, complex manufacturing plant environment.Demonstrated knowledge and application of environmental management systems.Experience in Lean Manufacturing Methodologies.Experience in Word Class Manufacturing methodology.Experience with SPCC plans, hazardous waste plans, and waste contingency plansManufacturing environment experience.Microsoft Office PC skills & AutoCadExcellent verbal and written communication skills.
