Global Framework Compliance (“GFC”) forms part of the Global Risk & Compliance function at Northern Trust and is entrusted with
creating and maintaining minimum standards for how the wider Risk & Compliance function creates and maintains their mapping of applicable regulatory requirements (for each regulated entity, their businesses, products and services),
completes annual compliance risk assessments,
monitors compliance with these and delivers reporting on the compliance risks posed by the applicable requirements .
GFC works closely with regional and local compliance partners, ensuring consistent application of the framework and its minimum standards.
Under the direct supervision of the GFC Team Lead, the role will be dedicated to support the the Compliance Risk Assessment (“CRA”) program for Northern Trust, including but not limited to planning activities, reporting, stakeholder management, and others.
MAJOR DUTIES:
Assist in facilitating foundational work, including but not limited to CRA (Compliance Risk Assessment) launch planning, closing of CRAs on BWise, rule map reviews, regulatory requirements aggregation into logical groupings Consolidate and summarize CRA results for senior management and committee reporting, include region and legal entity specific data Monitor the Compliance Findings created through the CRA process to confirm completion Support in training the regional team (and any First Line partners, where required) on the CRA. Provide support in Roundtable Reviews, as needed by a region. Respond to ad-hoc questions on how to use the BWise platform to deliver CRAs. Troubleshoot any BWise issues experienced by the regional team. Escalate to the BWise Functional Administrator and liaise with BWise to resolve issues, as needed. Conducts other related activities and duties as assigned, including support core compliance framework program elements (Rule Mapping, Compliance Monitoring Plan Program). Assits in the implementation of compliance initiatives, including the development of procedures, and controls. Support audits and regulatory examinations by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries. Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels to ensure alignment and understanding of compliance requirements.
Knowledge/Skills
Advanced analytical skills, with experience in organizing, summarizing and managing a large amount of data and translating them into a report with great attention to detail. Proficiency with Office 365 application, including Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Word, and Teams to efficiently perform analyses and communicate results to various stakeholders. Effective written and verbal communication skills to present relevant information to various stakeholders, including Senior Management. Strong organizational skills required to manage competing priorities from a variety of compliance related tasks and/or activities assigned. Flexible, a collaborative approach to work, with strong interpersonal skills. Ability to use initiative and work independently in a proactive manner. Ability to work effectively and build relationships in a geographically-blended environment
EXPERIENCE:
Must possess at least a Bachelor’s/College Degree in Economics, Finance, Accountancy/Business Studies, Administration/Management or equivalent
At least 4 years of related experience
Experience with Microsoft Office applications particularly in Excel, PowerPoint and Word
Work background in any financial institution is an asset
Work Schedule:
8:00am to 5:00pm
Mondays - Fridays, Hybrid
