We are hiring a full-time permanent, Senior Analyst, Project Controls position working out of Edmonton, AB.

Reporting to the Manager, Project Controls, the Senior Analyst, Project Controls, will be responsible for coordinating alignment between scheduling, cost control, and risk analysis processes, procedures, and deliverables. You are highly specialized in project management areas such as project planning, cost control, data analytics and project risk management. This position includes ensuring the implementation of best practices in project controls and involves actively participating in the development of the operational plan for the EPCOR Water Services (EWS) Project Management team and identifying objectives and priorities for the upcoming year.

 

What you’d be responsible for

Responsible for coordinating EWS project controls program, procedures, and standards, including:providing technical insights and expertise to support decision-making;problem-solving and resolution;developing and delivering training tools and methods;coaching and providing mentorship.Acting as the liaison between Project Controls Schedulers and other members of the project management team, including cost control specialists, risk analysts, estimators, and project managers.Providing input to the Operational Plan for the PMO in Water Services and the identification of objectives and priorities (annual work plan) for the upcoming year.Actively providing expertise to the Project Controls team by:Conducting overall project planning for the entire project lifecycle for capital projects in collaboration with the project team;Developing and implementing best-practice processes utilizing Primavera P6 for project planning and scheduling;Developing and implementing best-practice processes utilizing Microsoft Power BI, Excel, Power Queries, and other tools for data analysis, data visualization, and reporting;Supporting Project Cost Control specialists with the tracking of project costs against budget and reporting project finances;Advising Project Managers and the team of schedule risks and opportunities, including potential strategies and solutions to improve the overall schedule and minimize the critical path;Developing, baselining, and updating project schedules for the entire portfolio of Water Services capital projects;Collaborating with colleagues and project stakeholders to resolve issues or concerns.Ensuring that project/ program/ portfolio risk and contingency are accounted for and managed appropriately.Demonstrating a high-performance, high-discipline, safe, accountable, focused, innovative, and achievement-oriented manner of working that is easy to do business with.

 

What’s required to be successful

 

A two-year Diploma in Engineering Technology, Construction Management or related field from a recognized post-secondary institute or degree in business administration, finance, engineering, project management or a related field.8+ years of Project Controls (Planning / Cost Engineering & Management) experience.Project Management Professional (PMP) or other PMI designation considered an asset.Knowledgeable with best practices in planning, project management and construction. Strong planning skills and high analytical capability, including attention to detail for the quality and accuracy of information provided.Expert knowledge, understanding and skillset using software, scheduling tools and practices, such as:Primavera P6Power BIExcel / Power Query / Power Pivot ERP Systems – Oracle, SAP, or similar systemsCost Controls, Budgeting & Forecasting, TrackingCost and Cash Flow Reporting at project, program and portfolio levels.Knowledge of methods, practices, material, equipment, and labour requirements in all phases of construction in municipal utility projects.

 

As the successful candidate, you possess strong quantitative, analytical and problem solving skills and have the ability to analyze situations and data, draw conclusions and develop a plan of action to address issues. You demonstrate the ability to maintain a professional manner when dealing with various stakeholders and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. You have the ability to make sound decisions while continually seeking opportunities to enhance your personal effectiveness and support the success of your team.

Wage: Starting at $51.89 per hour (final wage placement will be determined at the time of selection and is based on a combination of factors as outlined in the CA that may be found online.)

Hours of work: 80 hours biweekly; Monday to Friday
