Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) brings together American Express' merchant-and network-related businesses. This includes Global Merchant Services (GMS), which manages the relationships with the millions of merchants around the world that accept American Express; Global Loyalty Coalition which includes the international PAYBACK rewards programs; and Global Network Services, which brings together Global Network Partnerships, Network Solutions & Operations, InAuth and Prepaid.
Within Global Strategy & Capabilities (GS&C), the Strategic Planning & Investments team owns the end-to-end strategic planning and investment management processes. These processes support the annual definition of strategic focus areas, associated prioritization, and allocation of funding to deliver on our strategy. The team partners closely with cross-functional teams to understand business plans and associated investment requests to evaluate their strategic fit with the organization’s goals and funding capacity. The team also manages key strategic projects throughout the year, as well as the in-year tracking and management of funding across the GMNS organization. The team’s work is highly visible and provides an opportunity to interact with business leaders and gain a deep understanding of the drivers of our business
We are looking for a Senior Analyst to join this dynamic team. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys working with others, is passionate about the payments industry, and demonstrates a high level of ownership and attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
Data Guardian: Act as data point person for the team who owns all investment related data and structures its collection to ensure accurate aggregation and analysis at all points during the investment planning process Reporting and Insights: Analyze large sets of investment and financial information and provide reporting and insights Insight Storytelling: Prepare visual content to support strategic planning reviews with senior leadership (in Excel and PowerPoint) Develop Stakeholder Relationships: Assist as relationship manager to internal business teams and key business partners, including Finance and Technology departments, with the opportunity to take on ownership of these relationships as the candidate demonstrates growth in role Operational Improvements: Identify, develop and execute enhancements to existing tools, dashboards, and processes to streamline the team’s workQualifications:
Advanced Excel (Macro, Pivot tables, V-LookUp) and PowerPoint skills Solid problem solving and analytical skills with proven ability to break down issues, ask questions, and operate with a high attention to detail Ability to build and leverage relationships across cross-functional teams and engage with stakeholders on all levels Effective communication and relationship management skills, both written and verbal, with ability to interact with stakeholders at all management levels Overall intellectual curiosity and demonstrated interest in developments in the payments industry Experience in consulting, financial planning & analysis, investment planning or reporting desired Bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of professional experience Sense of humor and the ability to have fun at workSalary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
