About the Location Hybrid Position: This position may be considered Hybrid based on PetSmart’s FlexSmart policy and business needs. A Hybrid work arrangement is considered to be a blend of onsite and remote work activity. Associates with a Hybrid work arrangement have a work space at Phoenix Home Office and can be required to come onsite between 1-5 days a week as determined by leadership and based on business needs. About the Job SUMMARY We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Senior Transportation Strategy Analyst to join our Domestic Transportation team. This role will be responsible for supporting and enhancing our transportation network through pricing analysis, carrier engagement, and cost-saving initiatives. The ideal candidate will collaborate cross-functionally to drive efficiency, optimize our transportation network, and manage financial impacts of change to the overall Supply Chain budget. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to: · Manage scoping, data collection, participant selection, and bid result analysis for transportation provider RFPs, both annual and ad-hoc, collaborating cross-functionally to define requirements and strategies. Drive cost savings through comprehensive analysis, streamlined reporting, and process improvements, with a focus on planned project efficiencies and mitigating rate increases. Assess and negotiate carrier rate adjustments by evaluating financial impact, service quality, and long-term scalability. Analyze shipping densities and regional carrier performance to uncover consolidation opportunities and enhance rate competitiveness. Oversee rate change validation and maintenance, while refining the Standard Route Guide to boost carrier tender acceptance and optimize freight management. Serve as the primary liaison for the Breakthrough Fuel partnership, ensuring fuel cost-saving strategies deliver measurable results. Monitor carrier participation in the Freight Allocation Module, securing competitive rates for non-contracted or rejected lanes. Plan and facilitate Carrier Business Reviews, leading performance evaluations and strategic discussions to strengthen partnerships. Develop and present business cases for transportation optimization projects, setting clear objectives, tracking progress, measuring impact, and ensuring seamless transitions to operational teams. Lead SmartWay Certification efforts by partnering with carriers to uphold sustainability standards and researching emerging transportation technologies and best practices. Ensure the accurate and timely payment of transportation providers, maintaining operational efficiency and financial integrity. Provide industry insights and market benchmarking analysis to educate internal stakeholders and drive informed decision-making. Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, demonstrating strong verbal and written communication skills. Leverage knowledge of supply chain cost drivers to identify efficiencies and strategic opportunities. Apply advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to translate complex data into actionable recommendations. Exhibit sound decision-making, results-driven execution, and strong project management capabilities. Operate autonomously with confidence, taking initiative and driving impact with minimal oversight. Foster a culture of adaptability, collaboration, and innovation, strengthening cross-functional relationships and leading change with agility. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferably in Logistics/Supply Chain, IE, or Business. 3-5 years’ experience in transportation industry; or 6-8 years of equivalent education and experience. Retail or grocery supply chain background is preferred. Experience in distribution center and/or warehouse management systems a plus. Strong analytical and data interpretation skills with the ability to draw actionable insights. Candidate must have outstanding human relations skills to build effective relationships with peers, leadership and business partners. Advanced evaluation, originality, and ingenuity are required. Has latitude for unreviewed action or decision. Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS) and data visualization tools. Excellent communication and negotiation skills to influence internal and external stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Experience with carrier negotiations and cost-saving initiatives is a plus. TECHNICAL SKILLS Proficient skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel, and other systems as required. SQL skills preferred. Proficient skills in SAP is a plus. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Certifications in Lean, Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt) is a plus.
