This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the office three times per week or other frequency dictated by the business. **The Role** Serve as a Strategic Business Partner, bringing timely and insightful decisions to all strategic and tactical matters as they related to SEC requirements, accounting, audit/SOX compliance and financial analyses, leveraging financial systems and processes that increase visibility, improve efficiency, shorten decision cycle times, and reinforce financial integrity and accountability. **What** **You’ll** **Do** + Perform/oversee General Ledger functions (including but not limited to journal entries and account reconcilations); assure accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with professional accounting standards and best practices in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) + Identify, interpret and analyze potential accounting risks and issues + Understand new warranty coverages and develop new models + Develop and analyze warranty forecasting models using actuarial concepts + Provide input for quarterly reserve adequacy studies based on actuarial analysis of claims spend + Assess reserve balances using actuarially accepted techniques appropriate for the type and length of coverage or size of the balance + Contribute to the annual warranty accrual rate setting process + Provide data deliverables and ad-hoc support to the broader finance organization including FP&A and PD Finance, Quality, and Engineering + Identify and execute appropriate internal controls, SOX compliance and financial procedures + Assist with internal and external financial reporting - including analyzing consolidated results, drafting and performing first level review of SEC documents and management review reports, ensuring quality, and administering strict timeline + Supporting requests of internal/external auditors, ensuring open matters are resolved timely + Evaluate current accounting practices and policies and drive continuous improvement + Research, interpret, and draft documentation related to new accounting standards and brainstorm how each applies to GM as well as comply with external 10-Q/10-K reporting requirements **Additional Job Description** **Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)** **​​** + Bachelor’s degree in accounting or any related field + 3-5 years in accounting, finance, or a related field + Knowledge and experience working with data tools + Preferred prior working experience in the field of warranty accounting or analysis **What Will Give You** **A** **Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)** **​** + CPA or equivalent preferred + Warranty and data analytics experience NOTE: willing to work midshift schedule **About GM** Our vision is a world with Zero Crashes, Zero Emissions and Zero Congestion and we embrace the responsibility to lead the change that will make our world better, safer and more equitable for all. **Why Join Us** We aspire to be the most inclusive company in the world.
