What you’ll be doing: 

This position supports pricing strategy and execution for Staples.com. The primary goal of the team is to maximize financial performance by delivering timely reporting and impactful insights to business owners, empowering those business owners to make pricing decisions, and ultimately executing agreed upon price changes within applications.

The senior analyst must be a highly analytical thinker, data miner & expert problem solver. This associate must provide analytical support within & outside the team. Analysts collect and aggregate internal and external data and make impactful recommendations based on findings. This is done by understanding the assortment, monitoring the market for competitive movement, and analyzing history of sales and prices.

The senior analyst should be a highly motivated and analytical individual. Typical assignments include automating operational tasks; analyzing data from various sources and recommending price reaction based on competition, knowledge of product assortment and various strategies while maintaining accurate price ladders; and mentoring other analysts on the team.

Perform research, statistical data analysis, and data mining activities to recommend pricing strategies for creating a positive impact on revenue generation. Analyze customer and SKU level data and be able to make recommendations about improvements and opportunities for increasing sales and profit.Leverage advanced analytical data mining and BI technologies such as Hadoop, python, R, Tableau, SQL to perform descriptive and prescriptive analytics for presented business problems.Automate daily operational tasks using SQL, python, SAS or R for internal and external pricing and operations team. Monitor and troubleshoot the existing ETL processes and provide optimized solutions.Develop and automate complex interactive visualizations and dashboards to provide insights into the impact of various initiatives on Staples.com.Build and maintain real time pricing models based on various pricing strategies to set prices for products on Staples.com using data analytics and machine learning algorithms.Design visual outputs using BI tools and technologies like Tableau, Power BI, Excel and implement reporting automations to present business problems.Analyze the impact of cost changes on a regular basis and recommend price modifications in reaction to changes. Execute price changes within systems for profitability and maintain MAP.Manage margin by auditing existing price points and perform margin analysis to identify opportunities to increase revenue.Provide ad-hoc pricing reports and analysis requested by business partners and analytical support for special projects and requests.Recommend scalable solutions based on deep understanding of system functionality & limitations.

What you bring to the table:

Extreme attention to detail, capable of flawless execution. Strong time management.Ability to take leadership and mentor junior analysts.Excellent analytical and Excel skills. Ability to utilize SQL and advanced functionality of Excel, i.e., VBA, Pivot tables, advanced functions.Strong, clear communication skills. Be able to simplify the most complicated issues or problems and communicate to senior leaders.Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Must be very organized and be able to balance competing priorities.Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills; ability to use data to break down complex problems and formulate plans and execute against those plans.Proven ability to collaborate broadly with flexible, positive attitude and ability to get results.Comfortable working both independently with minimal supervision and closely in a team setting.

What’s needed- Basic Qualifications: 

Minimum 4-6 years previous work experience required (2-4 years’ related experience in B2B distribution environment or analytical work desirable) Bachelor’s Degree Required (concentration in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a directly related field desirable)

What’s needed- Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of statistical software including python, SAS and R
