We are currently searching for a Senior Application Developer to provide support to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This opportunity is a full-time position with Guidehouse, that can be performed on-site or remotely while supporting researchers in Rockville, MD.

What You Will Do:

Software development, design, and architecture. 

Write clean, maintainable, and testable code, considering appropriate style, industry standards, and documentation. 

Deliver assigned tasks promptly and efficiently, and take ownership of the product delivery. 

Work closely with scientific subject matter experts, back-end developers, and stakeholders to ensure visually appealing, functional, and intuitive software. 

Other duties as required.


What You Will Need:

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related discipline, or additional FOUR (4) years of experience in lieu of a degree

Minimum SIX (6) years experience in Software Development

Strong proficiency in JavaScript, including DOM manipulation and the JavaScript object model. 

Thorough understanding of React.js and its core principles. 

Experience developing and using RESTful web services and JSON or XML objects for communication. 

Experience with version control and collaborative development practices (e.g., pull requests and code review) using Git and GitHub. 


What Would Be Nice To Have:

Experience with Python development and related frameworks such as Django or Flask

Experience with *nix shell scripting

Experience with CI/CD processes, especially GitHub Actions. 

Familiarity with relational database concepts. 

Experience with Docker and the development of containerized applications.

Familiarity with building applications on Amazon Web Service (AWS). 

Experience with Elasticsearch.

Experience supervising software developers.

Understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle and exposure to Agile or iterative software design practices.

Knowledge of the Broad Institute applications seqr and/or HAIL

The annual salary range for this position is $99,500.00-$149,300.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
