Senior Application Engineer
Location: Hybrid for our site in Hengelo, The Netherlands Eaton Hengelo factory is now located at the heart of the The Green Box cleantech campus in The Netherlands, a unique location with multiple companies who all work towards future clean technology. Eaton has offices, test, storage and production facilities for electrical equipment, which is essential for charging electric cars, temporarily storing electricity. Our production site in Hengelo is on sustained growth trend, as a complex agile High- manufacturing location. From sustainability to Energy Transition to the Electrification, the in Hengelo site is currently linked to all of these from a manufacturing standpoint, as in Hengelo we design and bring to life the next generation of medium- voltage switchgear power equipment. **Role overview:** In this role, you will be responsible for customer design activities pertaining to MMS + NGX switchgear assemblies, creating high quality custom designed assemblies at a minimum cost while meeting and exceeding customer requirements, in accordance with all applicable codes and standards. In addition, you will define and implement improvements that contribute to the efficiency of the Custom Order Engineering team, and provides applied engineering and technical consultation with regard to the design and specifications of custom-made applications, necessary safety precautions and calculations during the RFQ (Request for Quotation). **Responsibilities:** + Technical review of project documentation. Interpret specs and customer inquiries and design technical proposals and cost estimation for customers + Provide applied engineering and technical consultation for customers in the areas of complete power distribution system design, protection & control design, or upgrades, installation, testing, maintenance, repair and training, solutions relating to increase safety, reliability, or efficiency + Review electrical diagrams and factory drawing packages + Provide specialized technical support for commissioning and testing of electrical installations, including programming and FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and if desired SAT (Site Acceptance test) on location world-wide, of electronic protective relays and control equipment + Analyze failures based on customer information and advice on solutions + Document all activities, data and information in line with procedures **Qualifications:** + Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent + Solid understanding of the switchgear Design and Manufacturing processes + Able to work with Elcad and Eplan schematic tooling applications + Able to program PLC in software package such as Codesys, Galileo and FactoryTalk and protection relays Eaton, ABB, and Siemens + Knowledge about network protocols: Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet / IP, Devicenet, IEC61850 + Knowledge about testing, diagnostic, repair tools and methods.
