Senior Applications Engineer

The Senior Applications Engineer is a direct customer-contact position responsible for delivering technical support to internal and external customers (including US-eyes programs), facilitating effective use of all Curtiss-Wright developed products (hardware & software) – with a specific focus on FPGA-based products, tools and applications.

Your Challenge:

To be a primary technical contact for customers – working with them on aspects including initial product introduction, application support, sub-system integration and technical support, in accordance with the Curtiss-Wright support policy.

Act as the primary technical contact for assigned accounts, and be the interface when required for the support and engineering teams at Curtiss-Wright sites;

Provide professional, timely and expert support as required, potentially including on site support;

Perform technical investigations, trouble-shoot problems and provide solutions by applying sound engineering practices;

Generate code/applications to demonstrate capabilities of Curtiss-Wright and 3rd party products;

Create customer-facing documentation, including procedures and application notes;

Accurately maintain internal log of correspondence with customer and technical interactions with customers;

Become an expert with assigned Curtiss-Wright products, and proficient with all current Curtiss-Wright products;

Continuously broaden your technical skill set and knowledge to stay current with relevant technologies related to Curtiss-Wright products; and,

Ability and willingness to travel on short notice to customers’ sites.

What you Bring:

Ability to program in ‘C.’

Working knowledge of:

FPGA design architectures and development environments (tools, compilers, simulators, IP)

AMD/Xilinx FPGA architectures including UltraScale, Zynq/Ultrascale+ MPSoC and Versal ASoC devices

FPGA development environments using AMD Vitis and Vivado design tools

HDL and Verilog as well as visual application IDE's

Understanding of high-performance sensor processing and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) techniques

Strong knowledge of Linux for application development, including AMD PetaLinux

Knowledge/experience with CameraLink desirable

Track record in problem solving, with desire and ability to learn quickly;

Strong interpersonal skills with customer-centric focus and ability to maintain satisfied customer relationships;

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including group presentation skills;

Self-motivated and team oriented, capable of managing time & priorities well under pressure;

Familiarity with Real Time operating systems (like VxWorks) is an asset;

A working knowledge of one or more of the following: VME, PCI. PCIe, MPSOC implementations is an asset;

Ability to use tools such as in-circuit emulators, logic analyzers, JTAG probes, oscilloscopes, etc. to debug/investigate hardware operation is an asset.

BS, Computer Science or equivalent preferred; a combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.

Minimum 4 years relevant experience

Experienced in the debug of real-time applications or embedded systems is preferred.

Ability and willingness to travel on short notice to customers’ sites.

Curtiss-Wright’s stringent quality procedures govern all activities at the Ashburn facility. The Ashburn facility delivers integration support for customers that need a custom, application-specific solution with a combination of Curtiss-Wright and third-party products. Curtiss-Wright’s Ottawa Center of Excellence in Canada is the primary manufacturing source for products designed and developed at the Ashburn facility. An additional US-based manufacturing source is also available for programs that require manufacturing in the United States. The Ashburn facility holds an AS9100D/ISO 9001:2015 Certificate for Quality Management.
