Senior Applied Scientist
Microsoft MAI Data team is responsible for developing and operating the largest data eco-system: PiB data has been being processed and consumed every day by streaming and batches. The team is responsible for the whole life cycle including data ingestion, data processing, data API, analytics and algorithms. Thousands of developers in MAI from Ads, Bing, MSN, and Edge are working on top of the data products that the team builds. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Applied Scientist with expertise in Large Language Models (LLM), Machine Learning (ML), and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for exploring and building a cutting-edge data product to enhance our data capabilities and drive innovation. **Responsibilities** • Design and develop data products (e.g., bot detection, etc.) to support various machine learning and NLP applications. • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and ensure the data product meets the needs of different projects. • Implement state-of-the-art algorithms and techniques in LLM, ML, and NLP to generate high-quality results. • Optimize and fine-tune the product system for performance, scalability, and accuracy. • Work closely with data scientists, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate the data system into existing workflows and pipelines. • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members. **Qualifications** **Required Qualifications:** • Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 4+ years related experience (e.g., statistics predictive analytics, research) + OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research + OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) related experience (e.g., statistics, predictive analytics, research) + OR equivalent experience. • Programming experiences in languages like Python, C++, C#, etc. • Programming experiences in frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar frameworks. • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. • Good communication skill, fluent in English (both oral and written). **Preferred Qualifications:** • Proven experience in designing and implementing LLM, ML, and NLP models and systems. • Experience in developing and deploying large-scale machine learning systems.
