You will also be expected to deliver superb swimming instruction to students of the British Swim School Aquatics program.
British Swim School was founded in 1981 and is the premium water safety and learn-to-swim program in Canada and the United States. We are looking for outstanding individuals to join our amazing team of swim instructors, who teach life-saving skills in a fun and gentle environment.
The Ideal Candidate
You are a fun, outgoing, enthusiasic individual, who loves working with all ages, including babies as young as three months old.
We offer a year-round program where students attend weekly lessons with little down-time. We are looking for someone who understands this dynamic concept and is able to adapt to the changing needs of the business.
In order to be successful in this position, you must understand how to engage with parents and students in a busy, growing business. Leadership, communication, initiative and reliability are some of your strongest assets.
We are looking for someone who understands that a business is only as good as its employees! Therefore, we are looking for someone who is willing to work within a smaller, boutique swim school, but who approaches the job with a big business mindset.
Roles and Responsibilities
Plan and deliver high-quality swim lessons to individuals of all ages and skill levels Work with the Aquatics Manager/Supervisor to coach and mentor the Aquatics Staff Monitor student progress, prepare progress reports and devise a plan of action for students who are not progressing within the levels Communicate student progress to parents Perform daily pool chemical checks prior to classes Ensure classes and trainings adhere to company standards Ensure that all water and safety standards are maintained at the pools Attend appropriate ongoing training locally and at British Swim School Training Sites Prepare and bring insight to the Monthly Aquatics Meetings and Trainings Requirements
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Swim instructor or Deck Supervisor Works with minimal direction and shows initiative Able to offer insight and bring new ideas to improve the Aquatics Program Enthusiastic, assertive personality with a strong leadership acumen Ability to lead, supervise and train staff within the framework of the Aquatics program Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong reporting skills with the ability to develop pertinent, easy to follow lesson plans for Swimming Instructors Disciplined to follow and enforce schedules, company policies and safety procedures MUST BE A STRONG SWIMMER who is able to demonstrate and train staff and students on the four strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly) National Lifeguard Certification or ability to obtain/renew Current CPR and First Aid certifications Knowledge of pool chemicals and readings Clear vulnerable Sector Check Reliable transportation to travel to different locations as needed MUST BE AVAILABLE to work flexible hours (mornings, evenings and weekends) If you are an experienced swim instructor looking for a rewarding opportunity to make a positive impact on people's lives through swimming education, we would love to hear from you!
