This is a hybrid role with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.

Your role

The role of Architect - Domain and CMS is a key element at the center of our operations at Radio-Canada’s Digital Medias.  Employees in this position have to collaborate with many different groups and also have to take architectural decision that have a direct impact on the daily work of hundreds of employees.  These roles are embedded into our Core CMS Team which creates the software used by journalist and content contributors at Radio-Canada.  If something is published on our digital properties, it’s via the software built by this team!  We’re looking for supplemental help to increase our team’s velocity and also allow us to release features around the use of artificial intelligence in the coming year. 

What are the responsibilities of an architect - Domain model and CMS?

Elaborates and creates the vision of the products or ecosystems under his supervision and ensures it fits well in the global strategy owned by the directors of Digital Medias (and CBC’s management for Harmonized projects).Ensures his technological choices fit well in the global strategy owned by the directors of Digital Medias.Maintains and produces the architecture diagrams to support our development teams using the C4 model for documenting.Identify, study and document way to interface with external and internal 3rd party.Collaborate on a regular basis with other architects or the technical leaders of our other teams in order to ensure that the proposed architecture and solutions takes into account their needs and constraints.Communicate to other architects, other technical leaders and to the technical directors the evolution of the architecture for the domain and the CMS.Participates in establishing the Roadmap with the other leaders of the product or expertise.Identifies the technologies that will solve the problems submitted to him.Explains his technological choices to our employees to facilitate their understanding, their acceptance and the realization of the project.Participates in the planning of work to ensure that all understand the objective of the work items and make sure they are documented before starting the work.Participates (if needed) to the grooming sessions and team demos as a subject matter expert.Validates the impact of their proposed architectures on cost and performance with the infrastructure team (DevOps).When needed, collaborates with various teams at CBC and tries to find harmonization opportunities between Radio-Canada and CBC.Contributes to the evolution of the data schema and the domain model for our products.

Examples of architecture work to come :

Rebuilding the rights management system for all permissions granted to the users of our CMS.Rebuilding the image management system used by our journalists and content contributors for their articles (API, Storage, Indexing, Performance, UI etc.)Collaboration with our AI acceleration unit to improve content metadata by participating in proofs of concept to improve the productivity of content contributors (journalists).

Required experience :

15 years of experience in software development (senior position)5 years of experience as an architect (this position requires similar prior experience)Bachelor in a relevant field or a relevant combination of experience and educationExcellent knowledge of the React / TypeScript stackGood knowledge of the .NET / .NET Core stackGood knowledge of GraphQLMust have an excellent understanding of the Azure Cloud offering and what could be useful in this offering for our type of businessGreat interpersonal skills (soft skills)Team player that understands he needs to federate his colleagues to his ideasHave a collaborative mindsetGreat at explaining conceptsGreat at producing technical documentation that can easily be understood by various type of peopleBilingualism is an asset
