About the job Twilio seeks a visionary leader to guide the development of key Identity and Security systems within our product portfolio. This role will drive strategic initiatives, ensuring our identity, authentication, and security products are robust, scalable, and aligned with Twilio’s commitment to innovation and customer trust. As a senior leader, you will shape the future of our security architecture, influence cross-functional teams, and set the standard for excellence in identity and access management. Responsibilities In this role, you’ll: + Define and drive the strategic vision for Twilio’s Identity and Security architecture, ensuring alignment with business goals and industry best practices. + Lead and mentor a team of high-performing engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. + Ensure world-class security, reliability, and compliance for all the products we build. + Mentor other engineers on the team throughout their journey. + Influence and guide architectural decisions, balancing long-term vision with immediate business needs + Represent Twilio as a thought leader in Identity and Security, contributing to industry forums, conferences, and partnerships, including FIDO Alliance and other leading identity governance bodies. Required: + Extensive leadership experience in identity management, authentication, authorization, and security architecture, including a proven track record of leading large, cross-functional engineering teams. + Deep expertise in identity management, authentication, authorization, and security architecture, including technologies like OAuth, SAML, OIDC, MFA, and Zero Trust principles. + Demonstrated ability to set technical direction and lead organizations through complex architectural transformations. + Experience designing scalable and resilient consumer identity and access management (CIAM) solutions for enterprise applications + A recognized thought leader in identity and security space, with a demonstrated ability to set strategic direction and execute with a bias for action. + Skilled at balancing long-term security and identity strategies with short-term business priorities, enabling pragmatic and sustainable solutions. + Proven ability to design secure, fault-tolerant, and compliance-driven identity systems iteratively and evolutionarily. + Committed to implementing best practices in security, compliance, and data protection across the organization. + Strong cloud expertise with hands-on experience in cloud ecosystems (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure), particularly in security and IAM services. + Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively articulate security and identity concepts to technical and non-technical audiences. + Strong collaborator, able to influence and build productive relationships across engineering, security, product, and business teams. + Passionate about enabling other developers and security professionals through leadership, mentoring, and driving efficient, well-informed decision-making. + Experienced in leading teams to tackle highly complex identity and security challenges, delivering innovative and impactful solutions. + Skilled at articulating and sharing security and identity platform vision with customers and synthesizing their business needs to influence strategy and vision. Location This role will be remote and based in the USA or Europe Travel We prioritize connection and opportunities to build relationships with our customers and each other. The information below is provided for candidates hired in those locations only. The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows: + Based in Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Vermont or Washington D.C. : $245,800.00 - $307,200.00 + Based in New York, New Jersey, Washington State, or California (outside of the San Francisco Bay area): $260,200.00 - $ 325,300.00 + Based in the San Francisco Bay area, California:$289,100.00 - $ 361,400.00 + This role may be eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and corporate bonus plan. All roles are generally eligible for the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave. The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location.
