Purpose
The Principal Architect (Applications and Integration) bears overall responsibility to drive the creation and adoption of architecture processes, standards and ultimately a fit-for-purpose quality application and integration portfolio for Newmont. In addition, he/she will be responsible for building a long-term vision for Application and Integration Architecture that will enable a simpler, more secure and more efficient future state. This person must be proficient in the techniques that go in the formulation of architectures, including requirements discovery and analysis, translating business needs into technical solutions and defining solutions to problems through application of information technology. This person will be responsible for architecting a technology landscape that is simplified, modern, flexible and will ultimately enable Newmont on its journey towards Digital Business and beyond.
Essential Duties
Strategic
Take business strategy and define future state information systems and integration architecture to support that strategy Improve upon existing architecture frameworks in order to define and design simplified, standards-based, fit-for-purpose IT architecture Lead the development and assessment of new concepts to support the business strategy and provide recommendations to leverage technology for competitive advantage, internal efficiency and improved service Provides strategical and tactical technology direction and management of IT resources to ensure the appropriate balance between tactical and strategic demandsTactical
Define application and integration standards, guidelines and reference architectures Establish an application portfolio management process, and lead efforts to plan and govern the technical and functional aspects of the application portfolio throughout the migration Host brown bags, training sessions by developing and executing a communication plan to train engineering teams around good application architecture practices Identify and document SOA/API Architecture/design best practices for integration across cross-functional complex systems Drive the mobile capability and development of the mobile channel in the organization through partnership and mentorship of the team and peers across the organization Analyze and document the current state, prepare, document and ensure execution of a transition state, document and constantly validate a future state Understand the benefits and challenges of cloud architectures, have implementation experience in innovative technologies that cross security, infrastructure, information and application technology domainsOperational
Create conceptual and logical designs for complex and cross-application and cross-integration architecture challenges Leads development and adoption of core application building blocks and processing and integration patterns to increase productivity and strengthen competitive advantage Establish and participate in Architecture Review Board activities Collaborate with Architects in other architectural areas to ensure comprehensive and cohesive working solutions are developed across disciplines

Training & Experience
Knowledge:
Bachelor’s (undergraduate) degree in computer science, information systems or equivalent is required Demonstrated knowledge of broad enterprise architecture concepts, disciplines and capabilities Knowledgeable in the design and construction of cloud architectures that enable well-integrated transactional, collaborative, resilient and efficient systems Thorough knowledge of modern SAP architecture, roadmaps, development and integration technologies Applicant is required to have a strong architecture, development and EAI background
Experience:
Minimum 15 years of experience designing and delivering large scale distributed systems using modern SOA patterns and REST Experience implementing and managing SAP, Citrix, Cisco, ITIL and Microsoft technologies Strong interpersonal and communications skills, excellent collaboration and teaming skills with multiple groups, effective time management and multi-tasking skills, self-starter behavior. 5+ years of experience with one or more of the following integration platforms: Mulesoft, Dell Boomi Prior experience with TOGAF and EA Tools Mining, construction, utilities or other heavy industry experience is preferred.
