Senior Architect - Transit Architecture

Job Description

Arcadis is growing! Our Halifax office is looking for a Senior Architect with experience in delivering complex integrated transit projects from start to finish.  This is a great opportunity for a passionate and creative mind to take on dynamic and challenging projects and be part of project leading the creative design initiatives on transit projects both locally and internationally.  The successful candidate will have:

a minimum of 15 years of experience experience leading and managing teams on large complex transit projects be an out-of-the-box thinker with a talent for developing creative design ideasexperience with Transit and alternative project delivery modelsknowledge in Transit Agency policies around the development of transit stations and transit oriented communities (TOC)have a robust design portfolio showing an array of projects and a holistic understanding of the design process

This role sits within the Global Architecture & Urbanism Division which combines the expertise of IBI’s Buildings and Placemaking practice, our Places’ capabilities, and CRTKL’s multi-sector design leadership to offer a diverse range of solutions focusing on human-centric design, sustainability, and technology.  

Role Responsibilities:

As a Senior Architect, your role accountabilities will include:

Lead and manage large, complex projects and project teamsPart of leading the process of creating and developing the fundamental design principles to guide a project from the earliest stages of its conception and continue to assist in its development and refinement through subsequent design and implementation phasesAs a member of the senior design team, collaborate with practice leaders and colleagues to enhance Arcadis IBI’s Transit Architecture Studio’s culture for design excellenceLead Business Development (BD) effortsClient facing role with direct interaction with clients

Qualifications

Qualifications and Experience:

Minimum University Degree in Architecture and OAA Registered Architect Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in an architectural studio and minimum 5 years’ experience in leading project teams and managing large, complex interdisciplinary projectsMust be an experienced people managerExperience with Transit and alternative project delivery modelsKnowledge in Transit Agency policies around the development of transit stations and transit oriented communitiesUnderstanding the role of developers in transit projectsCompetent knowledge of building codes and specificationsHighly organized with the ability to manage time and deadlines in a fast-paced work environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProactive and detail orientedAnalytical thinker and problem solver
