Chemours is seeking a Senior Associate Chemist to join our growing Thermal & Specialty Solutions team. This position will be available at the Chemours™ Discovery Hub in Newark, DE.

In Thermal & Specialty Solutions, we harness next-generation, low-Global Warming Potential (GWP) technology to provide market driven innovations to customers in the areas of Refrigerants, Propellants, Fire Protection, Foam Blowing Agents used in various systems for building and construction segments, and Mobile and Stationary heating and cooling systems. Our technical organization consists of experts in the areas of fluorine, catalysis, process development, analytical and formulation science, and application development to name a few.

This highly visible, key role will support R&D projects within the Thermal & Specialty Solutions business with specific focus on Process Development, process scale-up and support for commercial-scale manufacturing, and existing plant support.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Perform organic synthesis laboratory tests and procedures according to standard protocols and safety guidelines.

Carry out daily lab operation including set up reactions, purification, and characterization (GC-Ms, NMR, IR, MS etc.).

Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments and devices.

Execute designed experiments under supervision of senior chemists.

Record, analyze, and report data using software and databases.

Follow quality control and quality assurance procedures and regulations.

Assist with research projects and experiments as needed.

Communicate and collaborate with other lab staff, researchers, and supervisors.

The following is required for this role:

Bachelor’s or associate degree in chemistry and similar technical fields, or High school diploma with 5+ years of relevant chemistry laboratory experience.

At least five years of experience working in a chemistry laboratory setting

Knowledge of laboratory techniques, equipment, and safe working practices.

Experience in working with HF or willingness to learn how to deal with HF

Ability to carry out experiments independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team with proper attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving skills

The ability to accurately record observations and results consistent with protection of intellectual property

Good computer skills in Windows operating system and willingness to learn new software

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple, complex, time-sensitive projects.

The following is preferred for this role:

GC-MS operation and maintenance experience

Pay Range (in local currency):

$81,715.00 - $127,680.00

24

Annual Bonus Target:

6%
