Being part of a smaller, agile CI department, you will also have excellent opportunities to be involved in strategic initiatives, have input into the management of the business and contribute directly to the running of the practice. Over time you will become a trusted business advisor, working as part of a team, defining project strategy for multiple and/or complex projects and other key initiatives of the firm. 

Job Summary: 

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Economics Senior Associate to join our dynamic Sustainability and Impact team in the Channel Islands. The successful candidate will play a key role in our growing economics-focused consultancy work and supporting our firm-wide Chief Economist function, undertaking economic analysis and thought leadership and in support of our mission to measure, analyse, and evaluate the sustainability and social impact of our initiatives. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop and implement methodologies, conduct research, and provide strategic insights to support sustainable decision-making. 

This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with proven economics skills to join our team at this exciting time as we continue to grow our business in line with our wider strategy, which has three focus areas:  

Economic Analysis: Assess the socio-economic impacts of projects, policies, programmes, portfolios or organisations, using a range of robust, government-sanctioned techniques. 

Policy & Strategy: Integrate social and environmental considerations into business operations, decision-making processes, and stakeholder engagement 

Monitoring & Evaluation: Design and lead monitoring and evaluation activities that have a clear link to policy actions or programme improvements. This is essential for assessing performance and impact at a project, organisation or even jurisdictional level beyond financial performance. 

The role will include significant opportunities for further skills development, through our PwC Academy, other training and qualification opportunities, and on-the-job training on PwC methodologies and frameworks. 

Responsibilities 

You will be responsible for areas such as the following: 

Economic Analysis: Conduct in-depth economic analyses to assess the financial viability and sustainability of projects, programmes, and policies. 

Impact Assessment: Develop and implement methodologies to measure the social, environmental, and economic impacts of our initiatives. 

Data Analysis: Collect, clean, and analyse large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and correlations. 

Research: Conduct research on emerging sustainability and impact trends, best practices, and regulatory frameworks. 

Reporting: Prepare clear and concise reports summarising findings, recommendations, and insights. 

Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including sustainability experts, data scientists, and project managers, to achieve shared objectives. 

Thought Leadership: Contribute to thought leadership initiatives, such as publications, presentations, and conferences. 

Theory of change: Use economic theory of change & environmental economic evidence base to deliver unique client insights.  

Public engagement: Represent PwC and our brand by relationship building and networking with both clients and people across our PwC network. 

Technology: Embracing technology, helping clients to develop efficient ways of addressing risk and regulatory requirements through automation or technology-enabled solutions.  

Requirements 

The following skills are required for this role.  However, we are keen to hear from anyone who thinks they would be a good fit and who brings some distinctive experience or expertise:  

Essential skills & experience  

Degree or qualification in Economics, Environmental Economics, or a related field. 

3 - 5 years of experience in economic analysis, impact assessment, or a related field. 

Strong quantitative skills, including proficiency in statistical analysis. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. 

Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

Experience working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment. 

Knowledge of sustainability and impact measurement frameworks. 

Demonstrated interest in environmental economics and public policy. 

Ability to build reports and write analysis to meet business objectives. 

Ability to manage and deliver against deadlines while working on multiple projects. 

Strong digital analysis and presentation skills (e.g. Alteryx, PowerBI). 

Ability to accurately prepare and review reports on technical subject matter. 

Comfortable in providing support to less experienced members of the team. 

Willingness to take initiative and ability to multitask under tight deadlines. 

Understanding of key economic methods and modelling. 

Experience of working with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. 

 

Desirable skills 

Experience working in an economics-focused consultancy, industry or government role, or a sustainability or impact-focused organisation. 

Knowledge of specific sustainability and impact topics (e.g., climate change, biodiversity, social equity). 

Experience with financial modelling and cost-benefit analysis.
