Senior Attorney Editor

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Attorney Editor to join our team, focusing on managing a large portfolio of Intellectual Property content. This role involves engaging with expert authors and providing legal interpretation through research, analysis, and writing to support the development and maintenance of Thomson Reuters Legal information across all media. The Senior Attorney Editor ensures that our published information delivers premium legal content, significantly contributing to our overall business objectives.

Location: Minneapolis-St.Paul, Minnesota (Eagan). This is a hybrid role, requiring in-office work 2 days per week.

About the Role:

Source, review, and edit legal content created by authors and draft original content as needed.Conduct advanced legal research, analysis, and writing to create and classify legal information, including practice tips, headnotes, historical notes, abstracts, highlights, and synopses.Establish and maintain productive working relationships with outside authors and content providers.Identify key legal issues in editorial materials, propose enhancements of legal information contained in existing or new content or products, and ensure accuracy and completeness.Adhere to editorial publishing schedules and maintain quality standards.Monitor legal developments, including reviewing new case law and legislation, and participate in continuing legal education activities.Interpret customer needs, assess requirements and proactively identify and implement solutions within guidelines.Prioritize own work, and participate in prioritization of team’s workload as required.Consult with multiple departments regarding the business aspects of content, products, and workflows as required. Actively contribute by raising, discussing, and resolving subject matter, production, and team issues.Lead team projects, mentor less experienced editors, and contribute to staff development.Actively participate in the employee evaluation process.

About You:

J.D. degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school (Required).Minimum 4-6 years of practice experience in one or more areas of Intellectual Property law: trade secrets, copyright, patent, or trademark (Required).Experience in legal editorial publishing and working with authors and editors preferred.Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.Proficiency in using Westlaw and other legal research technology.

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations. Eligible office location(s) for this role include one or more of the following: Eagan, MN; Ann Arbor, MI; Richmond, VA; Rochester, NY. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $70,500 - $130,900. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
