Senior Audit Associate - Financial Services

We are currently looking for a Senior Audit Associate and fund accountant for our Financial Services practice. This position requires professionals to have in-depth, first-hand knowledge of fund accounting. The individual will use their experience in accounting and taxation to provide fund audit, accounting, tax, compliance and consulting services for clients. Additional responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):

Essential Duties:

Perform in-charge accounting and audit functions on various Financial Services engagements. Review client’s entities from an operations, tax, accounting, IT and compliance perspective. Prepare and review client’s quarterly journal entries for each period reviewed and assemble or review a GAAP basis set of books and records, which includes tax-basis adjustments for unrealized gains or losses or other tax versus GAAP variances. Record and reconcile intercompany activity, including intercompany payables, receivables, investments, and lease or other similar payments. Value Investment assets in accordance with ASU 820 and prepare or review related footnote disclosures. Aggregate or recomputed client’s journal entry support for archival which consists of: bank and prime brokerage statements; invoices and related accruals and support; and prepare analytical review of client quarterly fund accounting packages. Have knowledge of and understand internal control deficiencies and be able to prepare appropriate client management letters. Understands risk assessment and administrative engagement processes and applies knowledge in completing all related forms. Review fund records from the clients in order to assemble trial balances, mappings to financial statements and footnotes, to review monthly or quarterly incentive fees, review related annual cash collections or allocations to limited utilizing OD CCH Engagement software. Oversee Surprise Custody, SOX and SSAE 16 engagements. Oversee Mock Compliance audits and other compliance monitoring functions. Review annual tax versus GAAP tax basis journal entries. Prepare or review annual CCH Engagement income statement, balance sheet, schedule of investments, cash flows, changes in shareholders or partners equity, financial highlights and other footnotes. Review monthly, quarterly or annual partner capital and income allocations for both GAAP and tax purposes. Actively participate in learning and development opportunities, formal learning (CPE) and training programs. Train staff in the various audit and administrative functions listed above.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college/university required. MS degree in Accounting a plus. 3+ years of progressive audit experience in public accounting, specializing in Financial Service, specifically Funds required. Private Equity and Hedge Fund accounting experience required. CPA certification or demonstrated progress towards obtaining CPA certification, including required 150-credit coursework. Applied working knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP, GAAS, and PCAOB rules where applicable) and accounting standards and procedures. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, ProSystems and CCH. Working knowledge of QuickBooks, and tax or compliance experience performing income tax preparation and compliance reviews preferred. Ability to meet challenging client requirements, provides services, and possesses strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and research abilities. Ability to exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions and recommendations. Ability to work additional hours as needed to meet client deliverables. Must have access to a car/public transportation and be willing to travel locally to clients when required.

The compensation for this position ranges from $75,000 - $95,000. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the specific role, office location as well as the individual’s qualifications, experience, skills, and certifications.
