Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Payin Platform team in London, United Kingdom. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the core backend systems that power our cutting-edge payment platform. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver robust, scalable, and secure solutions that meet the evolving needs of our global customer base.
Design and implement high-performance, scalable backend services for our payment platformCollaborate with product managers and frontend engineers to define and implement new featuresOptimize existing systems for improved efficiency, reliability, and performanceDevelop and maintain RESTful APIs for integration with internal and external systemsImplement security measures to protect sensitive financial data and ensure compliance with industry regulationsParticipate in code reviews and contribute to the team's technical decision-making processTroubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production environmentsMentor junior engineers and contribute to the team's knowledge sharing initiativesStay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends in backend development and payment systemsQualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field5+ years of experience in backend development, with a focus on building scalable and reliable systemsStrong proficiency in backend programming languages such as Java, Python, or GoExtensive experience with distributed systems and microservices architectureIn-depth knowledge of database systems, including both SQL and NoSQL databasesFamiliarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and their associated servicesExpertise in designing and implementing RESTful APIsExperience with version control systems, preferably GitStrong understanding of payment systems and financial transactionsKnowledge of security best practices for handling sensitive financial dataFamiliarity with payment industry regulations and compliance requirementsExcellent problem-solving skills and attention to detailStrong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environmentExperience with agile development methodologiesRelevant certifications in cloud platforms or payment systems are a plus
