Senior Bridge Design Engineer

The Senior Bridge Design Engineer will work on complex bridge projects and develop innovative, practical solutions to various bridge design work for MassDOT, MBTA, CTDOT and RIDOT. In this role you will perform design and analysis as well as other structural engineering tasks for bridge systems. Location preference for this role is Boston (Cambridge), MA or Rocky Hill, CT with hybrid remote work schedule.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

Perform complex structural analysis and prepare design calculations using Midas, AASHTOWare Bridge Design and Rating, STAAD, and other similar software tools. Develop structural details and construction plans using MicroStation or AutoCAD. Assist and check design calculations performed by others. Prepare geometric layouts, construction specifications, and material quantity calculations. Establish and maintain corporate relationships with all employees, clients, and other stakeholders. Perform quality control review of design calculations or drawings Prepare technical specification sections Provide input to the development of engineering budget and schedule to meet requirements Mentor junior structural staff members.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS 

Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with structural emphasis. Master’s degree preferred. 10 - 15+ years of experience. P.E. license in Massachusetts or the ability to obtain through reciprocity.  Lead bridge projects, meet with clients and provide technical expertise. Computer skills (Microsoft Office), along with industry standard bridge design and analysis software. Some MicroStation and AutoCAD experience. Familiar with structural design software and AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications. Familiarity with MassDOT, MBTA, RIDOT, CTDOT standards for design, plan development and ratings is desired.

COMPENSATION

The approximate compensation range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.  Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
