DESCRIPTION

Michael Baker is seeking a Senior Bridge Engineer/Bridge Lead to join our Tampa office. This position will work on complex bridge projects and develop innovative practical solutions to various structural design challenges in Florida and throughout the country. In this role, you will lead, manage, and perform design and analysis as well as other structural engineering tasks for bridge systems and components.  

RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform complex structural analysis and prepare design calculations Manage bridge/structural tasks as part of project development, including plan and report production Develop or assist in developing structural details and construction plans using a variety of industry-standard software packages. Assist and check design calculations performed by others Provide technical leadership in a specialty subject matter area. Serve in a position of leadership for technical working groups.  Stays knowledgeable of industry trends and current codes and specification developments within their specific technical area. 

Project Management

Pursue FDOT bridge specific opportunities  Manage bridge specific projects and/or projects Execute capture plans and lead proposal efforts with the proposal development team Developed scope and fee proposals Develop, establish, and maintain relationships with our employees, clients, and other industry-related organizations and stakeholders. Mentor, supervise, and train other structural engineering staff with less experience.  Successfully interface with staff from a range of other disciplines (traffic, civil, planning, geotechnical, etc.) to support a diverse range of projects Feel a sense of pride in knowing that you are helping to address some of our nation’s most critical infrastructure challenges while building the future of our organization! 

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master's degree is highly preferred 15+ years of experience in structural engineering Professional Engineer (PE) licensed in the State of Florida or ability to obtain in six (6) months Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Strong all-around theoretical knowledge of structural engineering principles Experience with AASHTO LRFD, AISC, ACI, AREMA and other North American design codes Experience with the design of multiple bridge types in concrete and steel, and knowledge of staged construction analysis Solid background and understanding of Structural engineering software packages like: MIDAS, MDX, Leap Concrete Connect, FB Pier, etc. Preferred experience with engineering design software, i.e., programs such as Open Bridge Modeler, MicroStation, etc. Experience with Design-Build delivery, preferred Experience with FDOT bridge policy and plan layout preferred

COMPENSATION 

The approximate compensation range for this position is $119,667 to $207,316. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting.  Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
