Senior Build Technician, ILI

Overview

Safely execute operations of In-Line Inspection (ILI) equipment during service work assignments to achieve satisfactory completion of the job and assigned tasks. Assemble mechanical and electronic systems used in ILI equipment by following proper electrical and mechanical principles and practices using electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, software and appropriate tools. Collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical and Software Engineers and other personnel to identify, solve, and implement developmental problems. Assist in the development of ILI personnel, procedures and standards. Adherence to and compliant with approved documentation, practices and procedures. Compliance with Pipeline Integrity Industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

Ensures internal customers are properly informed of operating requirements for safe and efficient completion of projects

Performs handling, assembly, operations, testing, and disassembly of ILI equipment

Keeps up to date on all equipment maintenance and operational procedures to ensure safe, proper maintenance and use of equipment and satisfactory completion of job Complies with TDW safety standards and procedures with the responsibility to stop any work if unsafe conditions exist

Reviews mechanical and electrical documentation to identify necessary revisions, deletions or amendments to outdated material

Modifies electrical prototypes, parts, assemblies, and systems to correct functional deficiencies by fabricating or modifying parts as needed utilizing available tools and materials

Recommends parts and materials to use for job based on pipeline specifications and customer needs Procures components from inventory and inspects all required components/parts required for the operation of the tool following all established quality control procedures

Modifies, maintains/repairs, and upgrades production released ILI tools and equipment prior to field deployment in accordance with established assembly and configuration procedures detailed for engineering test and/or customer requirements

Reviews project requirements and makes necessary tool modifications prior to tool deployment

Utilizes appropriate forms and software to document new build, maintenance/repair and upgrade histories of ILI equipment and sub-assemblies

Completes reports and documents on tool builds, in accordance with quality control procedures

Assists with completion of documents associated with failure and root cause analysis on ILI tools and ILI tool components and equipment

Troubleshoots hardware and software of malfunctioning tools for regional Service Centers Sets up and operates test equipment to evaluate performance of developmental parts, assemblies, or systems under simulated operating conditions, and record the results,

Analyzes and interprets test information provided from test equipment to resolve design-related problems

Provides extensive troubleshooting and technical support to Field Technicians and other Systems Technicians on operation of service equipment

Guides/assists less experienced Tool Operators on ILI tool configuration, building and testing

Provides tool design and beta software recommendations to Engineering and Global Field Support to increase efficiency and effectiveness of equipment during field operation

Assists Global Field Support in the development of Tool Operator standards, policies, and procedures

Coordinates with Global Field Support to provide information, training and guidance related to tool design changes, software upgrades, or revisions to standards, policies and procedures

Prepares for additional Tool Operator certification through formal classroom courses, on-the-job training and individual study

Experience

High School Diploma required, Associates Degree in engineering or other technical field preferred.

3+ years of mechanical, electronic, technical or pipeline experience preferred.

Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.

Team leadership or other leadership expereince preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Intermediate experience in Microsoft Office, Acrobat and other similar basic computer programs.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Fluent in English.
