Senior Building Mechanical Engineer
We are seeking a Senior Building Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Greenwood Village, CO. You will need exceptional design and analytical skills to plan, design and focus on HVAC, plumbing, and fire sprinkler systems for water and wastewater treatment-related facilities, which typically feature process treatment buildings, but can also include administration and operations buildings, laboratories, maintenance buildings, or occasional assignments for other business units, including federal and military programs, industrial, and institutional projects. You will support building mechanical design services of systems in areas of potable and non-potable water distribution, building and roof drainage systems, HVAC systems, fire protection and odor control assets as well as central hydronic plant design (boilers, chillers, cooling towers); and designing central utilities and process exhaust systems for manufacturing, lab, and office spaces. Typical duties include applying intensive and diversified knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices to technical writing, construction drawing and specification production for submission to clients and jurisdictional plan check; permitting shop drawing review; and responding to requests for information during construction. Engineered systems include, but are not limited to, package systems, central plants, air distribution, hydronic systems, plumbing systems, and controls. Knowledge of fire protection systems is also desirable. You will be expected to: • Design complete HVAC systems, including package type and central plants • Design HVAC Controls systems with integration into Building Management Systems and SCADA Systems. • Design complete Plumbing systems, including utility and potable distribution systems, drainage systems, and miscellaneous systems such as compressed air and natural gas • Design fire protection systems using a performance system approach • Perform calculations for HVAC loads, duct and pipe sizing, life-cycle costs, and energy analyses • Prepare calculations for plumbing systems, including water and drainage flows, water heater sizing and pump sizing and selection • Prepare detailed design drawings and specifications • Prepare Basis of Design reports and Technical Memorandums • Select equipment, vendor coordination, and edit specifications • Conduct field evaluations and develop as-built drawings • Manage and coordinate work with engineers and technicians of other disciplines and architects • Lead meetings and communicate with clients, vendors, and other project stakeholders to establish project needs and discuss design issues • Manage quality and schedule of work and interface with clients • Manage project budgets, including estimating efforts to complete • Support field staff during construction phase of projects, including responding to submittal reviews and requests for information * Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (BSME) * 10 to 20 years’ experience in producing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection designs and providing services during construction for design-build projects * Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license Ideally, You'll Also Have: • Construction site experience, including history of working in a corporate engineering environment • Experience in preparing basis of design reports, detailed design drawings and specifications. • Proficiency with building load calculations software and building energy compliance using RESCHECK and COMCHECK software. • Working knowledge of applicable building codes and standards including ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, IBC, IECC, etc. • Experience preparing technical specifications and reports. • Strong analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills. • Effective interface and communication with project team members, management and clients. • Effective management of project workload, budgets, schedules and an ability to work with, lead, and mentor junior engineers. • Self-motivated and work productively without supervision. • Carrier HAP or Trane Trace experience Jacobs is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
