General NotesUT Health Austin's Ambulatory Surgery Center at the Dell Medical School is seeking a Senior Business Analyst.
PurposeThis is a full-time position to serve as a key team member in the Ambulatory Surgery Center at UT Health Austin. The Senior Business Analyst is responsible for the success of the surgical clinical enterprise’s financial and unit-level performance, while supporting the oversight and development of the annual budget planning process through reporting and analysis.
ResponsibilitiesOperational Support and Analysis:Supports the ASC Leadership by monitoring business revenue, expenditures and other resources to ensure budget alignment.
Analyzes past financial and operational results, perform variance analysis and identify trends. Integrates process improvements objectives and develops manual and automated reporting/forecasting through standard and ad-hoc reports, tools, and Tableau dashboards.
Reviews contract management activities to determine system opportunities for improvement.
Provides analytic capacity in support of the program review process in collaboration with UTHA leadership.
Provides pertinent data and generates financial models to support strategic initiatives and long-term planning.
Conducts audits on business processes to help inform operational improvements and initiatives.
Constructs workflow charts and illustrations to highlight operational objectives and opportunities using analytics/financial modeling of current processes using metrics and other benchmark data.
Effectively escalates and communicates issues, while providing status updates on analytics processes and deliverables.
Communicates verbally and in writing, with internal and external customers, in a cordial, articulate and timely manner.
Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to UT Health Austin and Dell Medical School policies, procedures and quality standards.
Finance:Confirms transaction coding accuracies for departmental expenses to monitor and analyze, while maintaining correspondence with appropriate contact on variances in utilization.
Ensures the integrity of accounting information by reviewing and verifying transactions. Financial transactions include but are not limited to processing of purchase orders, pro-card vouchers, cash/check deposits, travel authorizations, travel reimbursements, budget transfers, vendor setups, and authorizations for individual services.
Works closely with Dell Medical School Finance Team on ensuring all aspects of transactions and coding in general ledger system are accurate and entered timely.
Serves as a liaison with end users on timely and accurate submission of all requests submitted through the University payment system.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance or related field and five (5) years related work experience demonstrating increasing responsibility. Broad knowledge of financial planning and budgeting, superb analytical, project management, and presentation skills, as well as demonstrated knowledge of and experience managing financial reporting and capital planning. Strong organizational skills, a flexible work style and be able to manage multiple challenging projects simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment. Good judgment and high level of professionalism. Highly proficient in Excel and various database applications. Great communication skills. Detail oriented and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred QualificationsAn advanced degree in business, accounting, finance or related field is preferred. Experience working in an ambulatory surgical setting. Experience working in healthcare, hospital, physician group operations, and/or higher education setting. Extensive knowledge of the generally accepted accounting principles and general ledger systems and procedures.
Salary Range$60,000+ depending on qualifications
